Worth mentioning is I gave vol 1 a 2/5 on goodreads originally and a 3/5 on re-read. It started out pretty mediocre. Volume 2 earned a solid 5/5 with me.

Page one: text on black background, “WAKE UP!”. Eyes open, a baby sea turtle with an eggshell helmet says, “you need to wake up!”
Page 2: helmet turtle says to a green baby sea turtle, who is waking up out off his egg, “we need to get moving.” CRASH! A cormorant breaks through the ceiling of their nest hole. Helmet turtle says MOVE!
Page 3: “when you’re out there, beeline to the water. Don’t stop. Don’t be a hero. Godspeed.” The helmet turtle kicks baby green turtle out the hole off a cliff onto the beach below.
Page 4: baby green turtle lands on the sand. The distance between him and the water is quite large. Another baby sea turtle is being devoured by a seagull and is screaming for help.
I dreamt of the beach (1/4)
#ayaka_is_in_love_with_hiroko is shaping up to be a relateable #yuri #manga especially in regards to its #age-gap with the generational gap regarding #acceptance of #LGBT+ individuals. I feel gen z has it a bit easier than we millennials did. Here's hoping progress will continue
After that point, it drags. The best #yuri series are 3-4 volumes #still_sick #I_can't_believe_I_slept_with_you, #seagull_villa, #donutsunderacrescentmoon, #throwawaythesuittogether, #the_two_of_them_are_pretty_much_like_this, #i_married_my_female_friend, #goodbye_my_rose_garden
These days I believe the perfect #manga length is 4 volumes or less. That way, if its complete when I discover it, I can blind buy the whole series and binge it. Furthermore, I don't have to worry about series being dropped or carried on too long. I.e. #sweatandsoap was perfect around v5 or 6 1/2
When your mail day perfectly encapsulates your #manga tastes. ' #office_romance ,' ' #yuri ,' and ' #cute_animals' I like steamy romance with career women in their late 20s and 30s and adorable critters as brain bleach from the news.
#scribble for a friend #pokemon fluffy watercolor brush in ibispaintx #fanart #koffing #garbodor being a poison type trainer would suck.
#furry #fursuit #poodling #feet the kind of poodling no one asked for #thicc_fursuit_thighs save lives? #kemono
#starters #oc #furry #canine for an online friend #work_in_progress
Just a #color_scribble thing. #sapphic #life_goals #cats Theres probably a name for this kind of blocked out unfinished color draft idea thingy. Idk the term.
The toony fish eye effect and color balance is so nice.
At the end of the day, its really about money and making rich people wealthier. How can I get enough votes to gain power? Which donors have deeper pockets? What views and stances can I appear to take to get those votes? Its easier to play off hate than keep any promises with economy or reform.
#furry #meme #sketch #scribble #chibi I hate flareup days. I can't even sit up today and even my phone stylus feels heavy.
Made a #fakemon based on a smug bipedal axolotl snapping its fingers.... end result feels too charmander-esque unintentionally. Didn't realize it til coloring.
Gift art for a friend.
#stitch #cheshire_cat #disney #fan_art #sfw #digital_art #fan_art_friday still playing with that fluffy watercolor brush. I love the effects I can get with it.
#mail_day #thriftbooks I cut out doomscrolling and most social media and dedicate that time to reading (a mix of novels, nonfic, memoirs, manga, manwha, and western comics) Even with a busy schedule full of work and uni, I make myself find a few minutes here and there for reading.
Everything was packed lovely as always, if a tad different and I am shocked how good the notebooks and stickers were considering they were b-grade! Thanks for the sticker variety, too!
New @lairbrew.bsky.social merch! Just a small order this time. Notebooks to share with frens, stickers, and a bantam tsuchinoko to go with all my other plushies.
Moth keeper is a solid 4 or 4.5 of 5, and Moonstruck was a 2, a 1.5, and a 2 respectively for each volume. The art carried it. Moth keeper is gorgeous. Its probably a 4 to me but the comparatively bad Moonstruck made it look like a shining gem.
Last night I read #The_Moth_Keeper by K. O'neill and the three volumes of #Moonstruck by Grace Ellis. Both had great cozy art but they were like night and day in terms of plot and characters. Both had a variety of characters but rep isn't everything. The 'romance in Moonstruck was toxic as hell. 1/?
masculinity is bullied by the two girls and called Prince Butthead repeatedly. Feminism is not putting down guys, nor is it simply being #not_like_other_girls. I vehemently don't like this. The art *is* nice and we do need more lgbt children's and YA graphic novels but this isn't a good one.
Worse, said fat shamed character is drawn with an average build so will probably make overweight kids feel worse. Dialogue reads like children's literature or middle grade and plot skips all over. The one male character, who on a positive note mentions the pressures of toxic
#Princess_princess_ever_after is a solid no from me for good lgbt rep. To subvert the standard prince saves princess plot, we get masc saves femme. Worse it plays into awful tropes with a black masc teen saving a blonde white girl who is timid and called fat and stupid repeatedly. 1/?
Is it worth a read, probably. Is it a favorite, no. Do I feel these characters should be together? No. Am I planning to keep an eye on the creator's future work? Certainly. I read a work and I felt something from it. 6/6 (but there was no 4)
This is a phenomenon called limerence. It took me a while to grow past it. Maybe that's why this book made uncomfortable. This is a different, more straightforward, selfishness that I don't necessarily think is wrong. Especially when the motives of the love interest are revealed 5/?
The main character doesn't take an interest in others or the fake relationship she ends up in. I used to take an interest in others but it took a long time for me to realize I used to do it more out to get a positive reaction from them instead of out of genuine interest, because I wanted praise. 3/?
