This is literally the thing I tell myself when I see negativity like this about games, taking some sort of pleasure when a game fails is weird and I can’t comprehend why one would unless one actually didn’t like video games.

Which specifically means updates that are monetized to continue to gain revenue, which the intention with this game does not seem to be that. Therefore not a live service game just because it gets supported further.
