Iran war: Greens call to ‘electrify everything’ and distance NZ from US The Green Party says a national electrification plan is needed to build NZ’s energy security as, unlike oil shipments, wind and solar can’t be held up in the Strait of Hormuz.

See a 2007 Parking Day spot in a loud, fast-moving car sewer on Broadway is now a pedestrian plaza! YouTube video by Streetfilms®

Never forget, it’s not enough to tell the truth, especially in the age of disinformation.

You have to tell it well.

REALLY well.

Our collaborator @streetfilms.bsky.social has been doing that for a long time. His short, simple, excellent video below is a good example. youtube.com/watch?v=A0Kl...

You can tell 2 out of 3 of us (@tomflood.bsky.social and I) are Canadian by how we spell “neighbourhood.” @grantennis.bsky.social politely let us get away with it, but here’s a “neighborhood” for our US friends. #UrbanTruth

The remarkable Artemis II mission isn’t making me more passionate about Mars. It’s making me more passionate about Earth.

I have written to the Chair of the Governance and Administration Select Committee requesting that we hold an urgent inquiry on the capability and capacity of FENZ.

Yesterday I attended the firefighters' strike in Central Auckland with Chlöe Swarbrick and spent some time at their fire station. Firefighters there share concerns raised across the country.

In the short time I've been the spokesperson for Internal Affairs for the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand, it has become very obvious that there are serious issues that need immediate attention within Fire and Emergency New Zealand.

The debacle around purchasing new appliances is unacceptable and is putting communities at risk. The lack of appropriate training facilities, the excess amounts of overtime worked and low base pay rates are all issues.

Add to this fire stations closed due to lack of maintenance which has pushed people and property outside of FENZ standard response times, and the numbers of career firefighters remaining static as our population has increased. They face an increased risk of cancer and a battle to prove it's work related, and volunteer firefighters are not getting ACC cover. The list goes on!

At the same time, I have become extremely concerned with the conflicting information that senior FENZ officers have been giving at hearings to the Governance and Administration Select Committee. Information that is frequently found to be incorrect.

Green MP Mike Davidson called for a much wider inquiry in letter to SC Chair and did it two weeks earlier - Costley coat-tailed to get publicity and limit the inquiry to fleet only and not wider issues. www.facebook.com/share/p/1J22...

If your govt is captured by the oil and gas industry we will take this crisis to invest in a LNG import terminal. Like New Zealand. Or maybe just stupid.

It’s like how “free” parking which is really paid for by everyone, regardless of whether you drove, took public transit, biked or walked.

If you ban the surcharge, the it just gets rolled into what we pay, it’s just not separated out anymore.

Instead they need to go after master card, visa (duopoly) who are charging exorbitant fees to the merchants.

@lookbothwayspod.bsky.social interesting analogy here. Never thought about all the other “free” things that we collectively pay for in because we decide to.

Truth: Bike-lanes help street shops more than street parking does.
