Zimmer also cited a survey by @nsilbiger.bsky.social & Stubler showing that unprofessional reviewer comments can be especially demoralizing for women, non‑binary scientists, & people of color, harming confidence, productivity, & career progress.

Our last paper of 2025 and I’m so excited about this one! We show that rocky intertidal foundation species are important to benthic-pelagic coupling by fueling pelagic bacteria production #EcologyLetters. 🦠 🌊 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/share/author...
This was such a cool project to be a part of! We used ML models to build a high-res (1.4m) land cover map, and combined terrain+weather data w/ algae+water samples from >200 lagoon sites over 4 years to understand connections between land use, precipitation, water quality, and microbial communities.
On behalf of the Department of Oceanography at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, we are excited to invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Ocean Biogeochemical Modeling at the rank of assistant professor. www.schooljobs.com/careers/hawa... position number 0082726
Okinawa had its hottest September at 1.6C above the average. I filmed this mass coral bleaching last year, but didn't have the heart to share. Total annihilation of the first few meters of depth. This stuff happens before our eyes, and yet people who think it isn't real keep gaining power.

One of our amazing grad students lost everything in the LA fires. She is so kind & compassionate & always 1st to help out a friend. She is also a champion of protecting coral reefs through research & action. If you have any capacity to help her it would be so appreciated. ❤️https://gofund.me/27c354ef
