I have a lot of thoughts and they all boil down to the fact that I don’t like where we are and I don’t like where we’re headed

beef is what got Galileo arrested!

the church wasn’t mad he wrote about heliocentrism (Copernicus did it years before and they were like *shrug emoji*), they were mad he took the pope’s money to write a book about how dumb the pope was

the real story is so much funnier and bitchier than the lore

Don't forget that it is Better Hearing and Speech Month if you have an SLP on your team or in your life you'd like to appreciate!

Never, in the long storied history of US college aged youth driven protests, has the "order must prevail" shtick actually worked for whatever political side was offering it up.

I need a new Chinese fantasy drama TV show that I can sink 2-3 days into binge watching.

The good thing about being a millennial generation young woman is how my parents really pushed the "independence/self-reliance is freedom" shtick because I now get to teach my partner all the good life skills from unclogging a sink to fixing a hem.

Shelves lose to the ceiling. It's unused space and you can be forgiven for dusting it once a quarter.

The wildest thing about all this is that when you want to report a crime on campus the police are all "so sorry outside our jurisdiction"; but when they want to create a kill box because some mystery donor doesn't like peaceful assembly it's suddenly within their responsibilities.

If there is one group of people I am truly green with envy about it's the people who can nap. Y'all don't realize the super power the universe has bestowed upon you.

If you're wondering if you're going too far in thinking that this is deeply evil: you are absolutely not going too far in thinking that

My coworkers would probably claim I'm an extrovert based on attitude and patient care without actually considering how many work functions I have not showed up to.

Imagine having a stroke and wanting to go home but your insurance company is saying you don't need to walk safely, learn how to dress yourself, and swallow without aspirating..and there is nothing your rehab team can do about it.

This week has not been great.

The most exhausting part of working in healthcare isn’t the patients. It’s far from the patients. It’s that best practice and staff are no longer up to the people practicing medicine and nursing. Instead we’ve left it to religious zealots and judges and extremist lawmakers and moneymakers

Don't forget the capitalists in health insurance companies/programs. Managed care companies specifically designed to trick people into believing they get more benefits by adding a optometry or audiology and then decimating in patient services is top of my hate list.

This reminds me of that study where they took a look at job resumes and behaviors in the workplace by assigning male/female names to the same information and discovered that male names had more favorable responses.

Live updates: Supreme Court arguments on emergency room abortions The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in another major abortion access case as it grapples with the aftermath of reversing Roe v. Wade. Follow here for live audio of the arguments, news updates, ...

Listening to oral arguments on abortion and whether patients can be treated in emergency rooms in case of serious illness and I'm having a really hard time listening to people decide the medical fate of someone when those same people can't even pronounce "Metformin" correctly

I saw this posted on twitter but I don't think that user is on BlueSky and I wanted to share it here... This interview with Ethan Hawke perfectly describes the importance of art.

You're telling me that in this age of hand held computers not ONE young person on this campus had a cell phone video of the "violent" reason they arrested people on these campuses? I have doubts, friends.

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

We were talking about this at work today. The news keeps talking about "unrest", "violence", and "saftey" but all the video is a bunch of people in tents, sitting while holding hands, or standing around chanting loudly. Their definition of unrest is wholly different from my own.
