A working class climate agenda would connect climate politics to the kitchen-table issues that affect working people, and build a strong public sector. This approach is rooted in a framework called Green Economic Populism, which argues that effective policy interventions should be green, economic, and populist.

We need climate policies you can touch, and we need to build working class power. It's through workers' *economic gains* and organized power that we'll save our democracy, overthrow the oligarchy, and stabilize the planet.

Stop Greed, Build Green | Climate and Community Institute A new framework to put the working class in charge of climate and economic transformation.

The working class needs a stable climate to thrive. And only the working class can actually BUILD the green economy we all need.

To stop green and build green, we're developing a working class climate agenda full of climate policy you can touch.

Nationally, polls show that the majority of voters want their elected officials to address the climate and cost of living crises together—and they believe it is possible

Centrists tell us we have to choose between economic populism and climate ambition. They're wrong. With *green economic populism* we can tackle climate and the cost-of-living crises together.

Today @cplusc.bsky.social is launching a new research and policy agenda to move us forward. 🧵

Ironic and tragic: while sewer socialism thrives in New York, Trump's war threatens bus and sewer service in Japan.

What a day! @triofrancos.bsky.social, @aldasky.bsky.social and @70sbachchan.bsky.social came to Wesleyan University and blew our minds. Watching people operate with that much rigor and generosity- is genuinely restorative. Makes you want to go back to the desk and do better work. Thank you!

France 🇫🇷 doubles electrification support to €10bn/year through 2030 — EVs, heat pumps, industry.
The reason?

The Strait of Hormuz crisis making fossil fuel dependence impossible to ignore.

Geopolitical shocks don’t just raise prices. They change what’s politically possible.

This @dechant.bsky.social story comes close to my point, but doesn't quite get there. Powering data centers from gas turbines can raise wholesale gas and electricity prices, but also retail gas prices if states let utilities spread tech companies' gas interconnection costs over all ratepayers.

Mamdani nails it again. As @triofrancos.bsky.social & I argued in NYT, green economic populism means tackling the climate crisis & working people's cost of living at the same time. We need better transit, better EV infrastructure, better rideshare options. Many needs ➡️ many policies.

Stephen Lewis, Canadian politician, diplomat and journalist, dead at 88 | CBC News Former politician, diplomat and activist Stephen Lewis has died at age 88.

It's devastating to learn that Stephen Lewis has died. And I'm so glad he got to see his son Avi win the NDP leadership. Avi won on values that Stephen devoted to his life to. As a young man, I was lucky to see Stephen speak in public—he was a legendary, inspiring orator 💔

It's hard to overstate the magnitude of @avilewis.ca's landslide election as NDP leader. His campaign was laser-focused on Canadians' cost-of-living crisis—and called out the genocide in Gaza. Sound familiar? And he made the case for a muscular public sector—from public groceries to a GND. Exciting!
