Fingerprint reader on iPhone, I still miss it. So much faster to unlock.
And as many have mentioned, separate charging/headphone jacks.

Wouldn't it be cool to invest trillions of dollars into a technology that would actually make society better?

Maybe we can call it “HI” — Human Intelligence.

Instead of “data centers”, we could fund “schools”.

Instead of *stealing* art, literature, and science, we help people *create* it.

Crazy!

Save NASA Science Action Hub Updates and actions on the proposed cuts to NASA science in FY 2027.

If you’ve been moved & inspired by Artemis, NASA needs your help. Literally during A2, the president proposed cutting NASA science 47%, canceling 54 missions, including many already in-flight. To help stop these cuts, check out @planetarysociety.bsky.social www.planetary.org/save-nasa-sc...

Oh my.

This is what the Artemis II astronauts saw yesterday when the Moon eclipsed the Sun.

A full disc image of Earth, as seen from the Orion Crew Module. The planet is a pale blue, swirling with white clouds and glowing slightly lighter blue in place from reflected light. At lower left, a large brown landmass is Africa, with Spain and Portugal with twinkling lights where the planet curves. At top right, auroras glow in a thin green glow, just barely separated from the planet's surface. Earth is set against the black of space (pic: NASA/R.Wiseman)

More context on this #Artemis II image:

* This is the night side, lit by moonlight. You can see city lights in Spain & Portugal, & a sliver of day at lower right

* The Sun is entirely behind Earth, which makes it a kind of solar eclipse, but w/ Earth doing the eclipsing instead of the Moon:

Absolutely love that the project hit over 1 million now. You inspired me and I’ve been printing/distributing whistles in St. Louis, close to 500 now through neighborhood and other community groups.

If asked i would say that the Rosetta images of the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko are tied with those of Satrun by Cassini as the most dramatic and incredible of a solar system object ever returned via spacecraft. Just look at the mood here.

THIS. Did you know sickle cell is curable, now? FULLY curable.

If you're feeling down or despairing about what FEELS like technology/advancement/science "standing still" or being fully malicious, I have great news: You're not paying attention to actual science. Just tech industry marketing.

This photo taken on Dec. 16, 2024 shows the central detector of the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) in Jiangmen, south China's Guangdong Province. The world's largest transparent spherical detector began operation in China on Tuesday, making it the world's first operational ultra-large scientific facility dedicated to neutrino research with ultra-high precision. Amazing technology from the 1930's in the Yates Hoist room. These giant pulleys, originally built for the Homestake Mine. The Sanford Lab repurposed them to transport scientists and engineers to build the DUNE Science experiment more than a mile underground via the headframe.(photo 3)

KC-1940 In 1940, over a period of eight months, more than 58,000 images of Kansas City structures were photographed and assembled as the 1940 Tax Assessment Photograph Collection.

This is the most amazing thing I've ever seen re: city history/digital history resources. 58k photos of properties across Kansas City from a 1940 assessment program.

With #LPSC2025 about to start, it's time to share what I've been working on during the last months and will be presenting at the conference.
This is a new high resolution 3D model of the Mont Mercou outcrop in Gale crater, that I made during my recent internship at LPG Nantes. #planetsci 🧵

Looks like the evidence for this weird chemical abundance in an exoplanet atmosphere has gotten stronger with new JWST data: www.nytimes.com/2025/04/16/s...

Is it really a sign of life? That’s still not clear; lots of analysis left to do. But it’ll be interesting to see how it all pans out! 🧪 🔭

This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever read about and I’m really proud of @stlcitysc.com for being the first MLS & US pro sports team to offer this.

Innovating the accessibility game to the max. #AllForCITY

We cannot afford to be hopeless. Cynicism is not the right response right now. It feels like we are at the end of the story, but we are in the middle of the story and together we have to fight for a better end. -John Green
