I doubt that Pope Leo XIV will lose any sleep over this, before he begins his pilgrimage to Africa tomorrow. But the rest of us should. Because it is unhinged, uncharitable and unchristian. Is there no bottom to this moral squalor?

Pope Leo XIV: "Even the holy Name of God, the God of life, is being dragged into discourses of death. A world of brothers and sisters with one heavenly Father vanishes, as in a nightmare, giving way to a reality populated by enemies"

Pope Leo at the Stations of the Cross: "Every person in authority will have to answer to God for the way they exercise their power." Jesus says. "Whatever you do to another human being, especially to the small and vulnerable, you do unto me. And it is to me that you will one day give an account."

Spy Wednesday: Who was Judas and why did he do it? Saints and theologians, not to mention authors and poets, have long debated this thorny question: Why did Judas do it? To answer that we need to know something about the man himself.

For "Spy Wednesday," who was Judas Iscariot and why did he betray Jesus? A reflection on the facts behind history's most famous betrayal, which we read about in today's Gospel.

Of all the passages I read aloud from my book “Work in Progress,” this one, about common activities for kids in the 1960s and 70s, which would horrify most parents today, gets the most reactions--laughs from older crowds, raised eyebrows from the younger crowds. www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=...
