I doubt that Pope Leo XIV will lose any sleep over this, before he begins his pilgrimage to Africa tomorrow. But the rest of us should. Because it is unhinged, uncharitable and unchristian. Is there no bottom to this moral squalor?
Pope Leo XIV: "Even the holy Name of God, the God of life, is being dragged into discourses of death. A world of brothers and sisters with one heavenly Father vanishes, as in a nightmare, giving way to a reality populated by enemies"

Also, when I opened the book, a black-and-white photostrip fell out, which the publisher decided to use for the cover. I was probably 13. Photo credit: Woolworth's at the Plymouth Square Shopping Center.
I transcribed a few entries for the book, like the one (attached) of my last night as a busboy at the Ice Cream Inn.
