Doing my part as an ally once again today explaining to well meaning humans the importance of acknowledging preferred pronouns and letting them know that asking is the first step… and reforming your neural pathways to ask rather than assume. The least we can do is ask
I think the least helpful direction ever is “do it like you’re talking to a friend”… because what does that friend need in that moment? How close are we? What is our relationship like? Do we laugh when stressed? Cry? Get angry? Which friend?!?!?

One of the most frustrating things (as my husband pointed out) is when you “get in trouble” for something you haven’t done, but the person you are “in trouble” with doesn’t believe you and refuses to look at the “evidence”…
