Secretary bird inspired Dilophosaurus wetherilli, but cutout from the original painting I created in 2022
The original cut-out. First I tried to reshape skull based on the archosaur skull ontogeny study referenced in the Nanotyrannus paper, then added details more based on anatomy of birds and the Trex-lip art study I made a while back

And as the other side of the bracketing Peter Larson claims birds don't have lips
I wanted to search references on how beaks fit to each other to get an idea on how a lip might layer in dinosaurs with teeth, and found bird lips?
I had problems with other claims too but found these most interesting
mounted Pseudosuchian skeletons
Using crocodile as reference against Mark Witton's use of monitor lizard, claiming it is "weird" because of phylogenetic bracketing felt off as in Dr Witton's reason is stated to be the lizard being a terrestrial reptile
We also do have terrestrial crocodile ancestors that do not look like crocs

Only using the Dentary to present how the teeth not just fit, but might even have there own little dents to slot in did not feel as accurate
My Trix scan seem to have lost some of these due to resolution, but suggestion was there
The jaw did not have enough place to close as much as video suggests

While I understood and found the Nanotyrannus video, this one felt less coherent to me and some of the points made got lost on me and the others did not feel as strong.
Closing the mouth more and having the holes did inspire me tho

Little more progress on the Tyrannosaurus skull ❤️ These bones are progressively getting harder to abstract, but I can't wait to experiment with them!
I have big plans for this so far very unfinished skull retopo of a scan of Trix the Tyrannosaurus from sketchfab. Hopefully we can learn a lot on stream with the help of it about T-rex and Nanotyrannus and how might a young T-rex looked compared to the Nano 👀
