Yeah I love it 🧡 the contrast and disconnection does it for me

ah it's all good! I think pretending it doesn't exist is a step, but it's something you can build on
I think they're about the same! I think shaping just allows for a more incremental approach. It'd be fun to build a feeling/qualia/association off of the thought of "it's so quiet."
When I was giving the same induction for months on end, multiple times a day, I accidentally lightly conditioned myself to relax and dissociate to 1788-L - Sentience. I had it on when not doing hypnosis and was confused as to why my eyelids were getting heavy.
Pfft you're good dude, talking shop is fun. 🧡
On the subject side I'll throw on Aesop Rock - it's fun to be wildly dissociated and notice "wow, this all feels incredibly distant."
Also - thanks for the thoughts! I'm collecting these as inspiration for a potential writeup
A few things that have worked on the 'tist side for me:
- Noticing thoughts, noticing them leave ala many meditation practices
- You don't need to notice the thoughts that are happening
- You can notice the feeling of a thought leaving, if you wish
- You don't need to notice that you're not noticing
Ah yeah! I've cracked the joke that "if your subject isn't thinking during the session, they're not in trance, they're dead" in my guides before.
I like and have used your behavioral shaping approach before! It works for some folks and frustrates others, but it's good to have in the toolbox.
You've tried stuff and I don't want to give condescending wonka advice though 🧡 thanks for the thoughts. I'm jotting these down for a possible future writeup
Pretending it doesn't exist can help! And I feel ya - I just let it happen in me.
FWIW, noticing that it's diminished is probably more of a 'feeling of awareness' - asking inner dialog 'is it gone yet' is probably just going to trigger a feedback loop of dialog.
Thank you!
Yeah I feel the same way. Catalepsy is easy to suggest you notice 'how much' it's working, but 'notice how your inner dialog has slowed down' has obvious downsides 😅

Thank you! I'm collecting these as inspiration for a possible future writeup. Never considered leveraging and shaping inner dialog instead of fighting it - but I guess that goes into mantra territory.
Tinnitus, neighbors, roommates, the chair creaking... That's harder to utilize in VR
Thank you! I'm collecting these for inspiration for a possible future writeup. Didn't expect such a response!
I usually listen to music during a session on both sides - it keeps me in the groove. Complete silence can sometimes be more distracting - something always comes in...
Thanks for the tip! I'm collecting these as inspiration for a writeup. (I've done that one too, but it feels slightly power dynamic shifting, so I rarely use this suggestion nowadays. It's great! It just feels mildly spicy.)
Man. Wanting to silence inner dialogue is a major want for subjects. I haven’t seen a single hypnosis resource explain how to approach that. (I’m scant on tricks too.)

Internally: "why is everyone driving like shit todayOHHHHHH"
Also yup - I know you know
😅 yeahhhhh that's what I meant
Who the F still uses email?!
taco bell is perfect 🧡
It feels like the community doesn't have good resources to figure out what's going on under the hood, so everyone's just guessing.
Also probably:
Hypnotists: "... You spend one hour and repeatedly suggest the same phenomena?"
ASMRtists: "... You only do therapy role-play?"
Finished Brain Tingles. It was all right. The brief history was nifty, they cited a few studies on preferences, and thoroughly covered ASMR as a ritual. Wish they had a troubleshooting section.
Uhhh - might be hard to get delivery, but blazed charcuterie boards are a pretty awesome rare treat

The evil hypnotist:
"No, I wouldn't prevent you from being hypnotized by anyone else... But you will hear anyone else's voice echoed in your own mind by Gilbert Gottfried...
It just depends how much you want it."
(Roping in Wyrdweaver since he'd vouch for me not being just-another-rando.)
@kerblooee.bsky.social Uhh I could probably help out! Updates might be a PITA if you go the astro + github pages route. Not sure how comfortable ya are with wrenching on code. My hourly rates would blow wix right out of the water but if you just need a hand, I'm down for that.
