My statement on today's vote on the Iran War Powers resolution ⬇️
Posts by Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher
Today, I joined colleagues and conservationists from Texas, led by @doggett.house.gov, to voice our opposition to the border wall in Big Bend National Park. Texans across the state and across the political spectrum oppose this terrible plan.
With refunds falling 65% short of what President Trump and Congressional Republicans promised, the failures of the “Big Beautiful Bill” — failure to lower costs and a failure to prioritize the needs of the majority of Americans — mean that life is more expensive for people across the country. (2/2)
This #TaxDay shows us the failures of this Congress and this administration. (1/2)
Glad to join @raskin.house.gov in this effort as an original co-sponsor.
Members of Congress should be in Washington at this dangerous and pivotal moment, and Congress must act to assert its own authority and to demonstrate the values of the American people.
Speaker Johnson, call the House back into session. Now. [2/2]
President Trump's comments this week have deepened concerns here in #TX07— and across the country—about the war in Iran. [1/2]
But she should not have been there, and we must do something about it. While President Trump claims his administration is going after "the worst of the worst," law-abiding people and families are being harmed. This should never have happened to Annie. [2/2]
I join neighbors and people across the country who are relieved that Annie Ramos, a Houston college student just married to a U.S. Army staff sergeant preparing for deployment, was finally released from ICE custody. [1/2]
This isn't just a reorganization of the U.S. Forest Service. It's a dismantling of the agency—an agency that not only provides access to our public lands but protects against wildfires and prevents ecological disasters.
President Trump has done so much to hinder the important work of the Title X program, from freezing its funding to firing the civil servants who administer it. Congress must support Title X, which is why I led the effort to increase its funding this year.
Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher on President Trump’s Post Stating That “A Whole Civilization Will Die Tonight” "Over the past several days, the President of the United States has posted statements that are unhinged and untethered to reality. Over the past few years, we have gotten used to seeing rambling, incoherent posts on his personal, for-profit social media platform, and have worried about their content and about the conduct of United States policy—domestic and foreign—through this medium. “Today one thing is clear: We cannot ignore them. The President’s statements are not only unhinged, they are dangerous—an escalation not only in rhetoric but in real-world consequences. The President appears to be threatening to take actions that would not only violate international law and long-standing rules of war, but he is also threatening to take actions that would make the United States unrecognizable to its own citizens. “I call on Speaker Mike Johnson to call the House of Representatives back to Washington to conduct oversight of this war and address the Constitutional issues that the President’s unhinged statements make clear. I call on all members of the Congress to remember and uphold their sworn oath to the Constitution of the United States of America. And I call on the President’s Cabinet to do the same.”
No one should miss a life-saving emergency alert because they don't have service. That's why I'm glad @energycommerce.bsky.social unanimously passed the Mystic Alerts Act to encourage mobile providers to adopt technology with the potential to close dangerous gaps in our emergency comms system.

Last week, I was glad to welcome global leaders and congressional colleagues, including @usrepkathycastor.bsky.social, to Houston for CERAWeek to take part in meaningful discussions about energy of all kinds, the realities today, and how we build a reliable, affordable energy future.
Equality Caucus slams SCOTUS decision ruling against conversion therapy bans
“Young LGBTQI+ people will suffer because of today’s Supreme Court decision. This decision, however, doesn’t change the fact that conversion therapy is still dangerous, disproven, and denounced by every major medical association in the United States. Providers who engage in these practices are actively endangering the wellbeing of young LGBTQI+ people and defrauding their families by promising to “fix” something that is simply not broken. Young LGBTQI+ people should not have to be subjected to this kind of cruelty—especially by licensed health care providers. The Congressional Equality Caucus will continue to push federal legislation to address this harmful and fraudulent practice.” Rep. Mark Takano, Chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus
Today's ruling by the Supreme Court against states' bans on conversion therapy undermines the safety of young LGBTQI+ people in the U.S., full stop.
Read Chair @repmarktakano.bsky.social's statement & commitment to fighting back against this harmful & deceptive practice:
Transgender Day of Visibility is a time of celebration and recognition. I am honored to represent all the people of #TX07 and I am proud to celebrate and affirm my transgender constituents and neighbors this #TransgenderDayofVisibility.
House Democrats have given them a bill to pay TSA, Coast Guard, and others, but Republicans who control the House will not consider it. The American people deserve better. (2/2)
Today, House Republicans brought a resolution of support for the Department of Homeland Security rather than a bill with a realistic path to becoming law to pay the public servants at DHS who are not being paid. (1/2)
Cheering on the #Astros as they #ChaseTheFight in their season opener today. Happy baseball season, y'all!
President Trump: *Casts vote by mail in Florida election*
Also President Trump: *Doubles down on crusade to severely restrict mail-in voting nationwide*
Trump is aware mail-in voting is secure & effective, but his hypocrisy knows no bounds.

If Republicans know negotiations remain ongoing and if they truly cared about shutdown impacts, they’d move with Democrats to fund FEMA, TSA, cybersecurity, Secret Service & Coast Guard.
My bill does that while keeping ICE & CBP negotiations separate.

He fought alongside American troops in Afghanistan and was brought to the United States by America—only to die while in ICE custody in Texas.

Even after being ordered to give you your money back, Trump is doing anything and everything he can to keep it.
