Small scale.
Plug in Solar. People will be far better at identifying areas for small solar sites in their homes/land. Ikea do them.
Hinkley(2030) £34bln, 15 years to build
Renewables will be generating far sooner, reducing cost. At one point in Nov I saw the grid at 85% renewables production.

When do we say no to an absolute wrong?
And whilst the US is a big partner. The EU was a far bigger partnership and we left that over 'Sovereignty'
Trump is literally manipulating markets and war through his tweets. His family are making fortunes. They don't care about the "special" relationship

We can close our airspace, like France/Spain/Italy/Austria/Nordic States etc and not participate at all in an illegal war, uwanted by US/UK citizens.

We need to be clever and start offering free/reduced public transport/ build an EV fleet for goods deliveries in the UK/ install ground source geat pumps. EV's are about 80% efficient compared to the 20-30% of Fuel. This would reduce the required power and daily demand.

Again at 3to4 times cheaper per MW. You can get twice what you need and use the rest to invest in storage, upgrade grid to handle overseas and connect us properly for resilience. Insulate homes to increase efficiency, utilise heatpump tech.

Or buy Nuclear.
Sun, tidal wind are an infinite source.

1 week ago 1 1 1 0

Why? When renewables are 3 to 4 times cheaper per MW than nuclear + Safer and more secure. With all the wars going on why risk having to rely on uranium import and make an obvious target. Like you say, we used to he good at nuclear, it would cost a lot to get there.

I mean the Green Party has been going since the 70's. It took Lavout about 50 years to get elected. I don't think this is a flash in the pan moment.

"Fairly" means respecting the rights, and sovereignty of the people of those United Kingdoms. If the Scottish people chose to leave the Union, then a fair government would allow it.

What the EU can — and can’t — learn from Spain’s low energy bills Madrid says a renewables boom is shielding its citizens from soaring fossil fuel costs. But that’s not the full story.

Gas only sets Spain's electricity price 15% of the time. When gas costs spike it barely registers on the electricity bill. In countries like Italy and the UK gas sets the price 90% of the time. The difference is enormous.

I spoke to @politico.com about this.

The sheer number of massive, completely avoidable, crises we are barreling towards in the name of short-term profit is astonishing.

We need to break with this Thatcherite, market knows best rubbish and plan for our future.
