Also fuck man these title cards rule and for some reason season 8 kept knocking it out of the park when it came to this
Actually just started rewatching some eps from it a while ago and was pleasntly surprised at how good it is. I think it kinda helps that a lot of the story premises feel less played out and tired compared to season 7
A panel of Popeye walking with an elderly man. Popeye: A comic artist ain't no different than you or me or anybody except he knows how to draw pitchers and is crazy in the head Man: Yeah, that's so
Cartoonist day!
Listening to old APM music to start the day off
Feels like a joke you'd see in a cartoon lol
This image unrionically says everything I hate about the Punk movement

Damn, RIP Jim Smith. One of the best cartoonist ever. 😔
Some years ago Jim Smith contacted me and asked for a background for a short he was developing. It never went anywhere or I never heard from him again. He gave me a very rough sketch of this house and I cleaned it up. RIP
The cuk-cuk walzer
Such hilarious and incredibly specific expressions in his drawings. He never settled for generic stock faces. That's what I love most about his work.
He created so many classic REN & STIMPY moments. He even plays guitar on the theme song. Here are some of his layouts.
So sad to hear that cartoonist supreme Jim Smith passed away. His work on REN & STIMPY was so beautifully drawn, so deranged, and so, so funny. Scene from an episode he directed: FAKE DAD.
Last one for now. I hope Jim enjoys himself up in ol' cartoonist heaven. He deserves it
#RIP
Some sketches by Jim Smith (1954-2025) for an unproduced short called "Jimmy's impossible accidents"

Jim Smith's original storyboards for the scrapped Looney Tunes Laff Riot. It's a shame we didn’t get to see this version. Jim Smith is a firebrand of a cartoonist.
According to OwenWatsonCartoons on his instagram post, legendary cartoonist and master of “mood” scenes, Jim Smith (initially born in Lubbock as James Carl Jobb) has passed away. R.I.P. Jim!
Jim Smith was such a huge influence on the way I approached stylized anatomy, I feel like he was the high water mark as far as drawing that particular kind of exaggerated musculature goes. Feel very privileged to have been able to cross paths with him and work together at Six Point back in 2010
Kinda bummed, just got word that Jim Smith passed away. His stuff on Ren & Stimpy and just his general drawing abilities was really inspiring to me, unfortunate news
RIP to Jim Smith. He’s jamming with Chris Reccardi now.
Gonna break my hiatus from posting here to say RIP to Jim Smith. One of my favorite Spumco artists, and one hell of a draftsman
RIP Jim Smith
gonna go take an extended hiatus from this place for at least a week
