Peak Minneapolis: Two group rides meet at an intersection.
Our ride (Queer History) is larger & our marshals hold the intersection for us.
The two groups start shouting at each other:
"Join our ride!"
"No, you join *OUR* ride!"
I shout at a friend (@furnwater.bsky.social) as we pass.

A screenshot of a paragraph in this story that reads. "“Cyclists” are not a unique species of urban resident; they are simply people who decide to bike instead of using another mode. (In North America, that usually means driving.) People’s willingness to travel on two wheels largely depends upon infrastructure. Only the hardiest will cycle on fast-moving roads that lack protected bike lanes; slower streets and abundant cycle paths can entice many more people to ride. As bike advocates often note, estimating the demand for an unbuilt bike lane by counting the riders on dangerous roadways is like planning a bridge by estimating the people swimming across a river." The last sentence is highlighted.
