Every time I see the phrase "theater of the mind" in #ttrpg discussions I grit my teeth, and it finally bugged me enough to write something about it.

I 100% agree with this; I think the least interesting thing about weapons is how much damage they do.

Utility and coolness is so much more fun.

While I have other quibbles with it, Sanguine's first Usagi Yojimbo RPG has GREAT weapon mechanisms: every weapon's damage is "will likely kill you."

I think that most situations that take away player agency should be avoided.

And when players are putting themselves into a situation where their agency might be in jeopardy, you should tell them it's about to happen, so they can reconsider if they want.

It's pretty easy.

Ok, this is not difficult.

The key, to me, for being a good game host, is to give your players lots of hard choices, with meaningful consequences. Things they've got to think about.

That's pretty much it

The Star-Pattern: a Pitfall of GMing When someone tells me about a session of a GMed game (like D&D) that they didn't enjoy, I put on my investigator cap and ask a bunch of questions about what happened. Because I like understanding why ...

"Wait, Ben Robbins is posting GMing advice? What year is this???"

Opinion | Charlie Kirk Was Practicing Politics the Right Way

I feel like I am taking crazy pills. Charlie Kirk’s ultimate goal, which he said time and time again, would have been the suppression, through threat of violence and the use of state power, of the rights of those he disagreed with, including freedom of expression.

In the heart of Logres, an enchanted wood festers and grows.

Many who venture beneath its nighted boughs are never heard from again...

⬆️ this worked for me for YEARS but it doesn't any more

I used to have luck with trying to get the pads of my index fingers as close together as possible without touching for as long as I could stand it, but even that doesn't work for me anymore.

I have big lungs and my hiccups are terrible
