It’s a neat and tidy format, agreed. The “race to be seeded at the Crucible”, “Judgement Day”. A format that is very convienient for the BBC. It is unfair to most of the other non-seeded players.

The top 16 being seeded into the L32 is just a round too far imo.

But the top players only need to win one match to get a lot points.

Across 3 tournaments, it is likely the top players would win say (at least) 2 matches.

Where a lowly ranked player would need to win 8 or 10 matches just to be equivilent to a top 16 winning 2/3 across the three tournaments.

I hear you but the trouble is, its used in the biggest tournaments protecting the top players’ ranking.

Unfair.

I always say snooker should model its tour on badminton’s BWF tour and tennis’s ATP and WTA tours.

I would not be against the top 32 being seeded into the L64, remaining players qualify.

But although in tiered systems players get a better chance of winning a few matches, they have to 5x as many as a top 16 player to earn the same ranking points. Unfair in the long term.

Tiered draws are unfair on the lower ranked players thou. Talking the UK, Saudi and world championships. The top 16 starting in the L32 is just not fair.

The Players series should be spread out,agreed.

There are too many invitational events.
