I was slightly worried diving back into this WIP would feel awkard at first, but nope! Two new characters popped up and the old ones feel like friends I've missed chilling with! That said, I got 585 words in tonight, despite weird weather, the sniffles and a busy evening.🙌🏾

The tricky thing about short stories is that the slightest notion, the tiniest inclination, a single grain of a concept can spin out into something fully formed in a heartbeat.😮‍💨

Thanks! There's one involving a secret and a book(scarier than it sounds), but I might really be ready to get back to the big project. It's starting to nagg at me😅

Another 681 words written, & the MC's voice is in full effect. A little devious, as only an elder can be, the narrative keeps threatening to go off on a tangent but ends up dropping random footnotes. At least I now know Manny's fish plate with of mac n cheese and collards on the side slaps👀🤷🏽🤣

899 words written on yet another short story tonight! I think I'm almost ready to get back to the novel WIP. It depends on how I feel over the next few weeks tho.🤷🏽

Probably as far as people let it. These types of things rarely taper off on their own.😮‍💨

I've noticed when I write, the story takes hold like a fever, something virulent and imminent, outpacing my capacity to analyze it's deeper meaning. It's in the aftermath that I discover the themes and meaning layered in. Anyone else work this way?

As a horror lover, I don’t like when the whole 'obvious smart/sane/common sense choice ignored' thing happens. I know some take it as par for the course, but I feel like horror hits way harder when people make *relativley rational decisions.

Last night I dreamt of a beautiful intricate yet often open air city. All walks, breeze ways, open spaces & platforms, separate buildings didn’t exist. Floors weren't uniform, though all connected & every inch adorned with vivid details. So of course I have to write a story set there now lol!

Wrote a key event in this Afrofuturist Horror WIP over the weekend and a very heavy scene is coming up. The fact I'm physically experiencing symptoms of stress about it is a good thing, I think...🤔

There was a skate and graffiti festival down the street today. I literally heard multiple bands from my backyard! One of the perks of being downtown!

So, spoilers, my current WIP is split into 3 parts and I'm nearing the end of the first part!🙌🏾 While I thought I'd be further along by now, it's still a great feeling approaching a major milestone.😁
