strictly speaking i didnt need either of those things to get a non-bsky microblog atproto app working. i had a non-bsky appviewlite microblog running for a year, but this ecosystem is so undercooked that evangelizing its use to other people made me feel like a clown, so i decided to kill it

this is what i've been trying to do, but when i did it by hard forking the bsky lexicon, it kind of turned me off from this ecosystem tbh.
found out i don't get read-after-write or private preferences storage. they're hardcoded in the ref PDS for the exclusive benefit of bsky's app, which is unfair
