The top of an opened Akai VCR mid repair, spread out across a wooden surface with its metal frame, circuit boards, ribbon cables, and wiring all exposed. The tape mechanism sits on the left, while several brown circuit boards are tilted up and partly disconnected on the right, giving the whole thing the look of a patient opened up on the operating table. It is a great view for anyone who likes old electronics, and a reminder that inside every VCR is a small city of belts, boards, and parts waiting to cause trouble. So much trouble.

Working on a problem with the VCR, hopefully I remember how to get it all back together.

I 1,000,000% agree with this! Mostly cause I helped Todd QA it for the best overall feel with a Seimitsu joystick. I even tried to kill it with track and field and Daley Thompson’s Decathlon! It's incredible how well it plays.

My choice for #randomgamesaturday is Pocket King on the Game Boy/Game Boy Color, a Japan only Namco release combining a strategy RPG with Pokemon characteristics of raising and evolving creatures to fight battles. Absolutely brilliant stuff and totally overlooked. Highly recommended. #retrogaming
