In leadership, “It’s just as important to think about how to be, as well as what to do."

- Is our curriculum unusually overloaded?
- What does a supportive accountability system look like?
- Does anyone get better bang for their buck out of their SEND system?
...now, thanks to @nuffieldfoundation.org's support, there's somewhere you can go to get the answers. www.ces.partners
Given the debate on the English school curriculum and concerns about the growth in pupils with SEND, you might want to look at some interesting international comparisons from the Centre for Education Systems with @loicmnzs.bsky.social @samfr.bsky.social Lucy Crehan and Patrick Wall

It is my privilege to be on the advisory board for CES and I think that these three reports - which analyse SEN, Curriculum and Accountability across 14 different education jurisdictions -are excellent. Well worth a look.
So delighted to have been involved in developing this with the wonderful @marieclaireb.bsky.social and @maggiefarrar.bsky.social
Very much looking forward to sharing my thoughts on the incredible leadership of Tim Brighouse and what we can learn from him about school and system improvement
Really enjoyed visiting Falkirk today. What a lovely place (who knew?). The Kelpies are impressive - see below. Great also to meet with the heads from Falkirk- they were very welcoming and are deeply committed to public service. Thanks to John Rose and colleagues.

What's it mean to become an educator, to be formed generationally during a transition to populism? Here's what shaped me during the onset of Thatcherism & what it means for teaching, freedom of speech, & ed research today. @stevemunby.bsky.social @alisonpeacock.bsky.social @agavrielatos.bsky.social

Headteachers need to feel someone has their back, says former National College CEO @stevemunby.bsky.social – but too few feel that’s the case.

We'd love to see you there!
It sounds incredibly naive but early on in my leadership I focused almost entirely on what
to do as a leader and only later did I understand the importance of also focusing on how to be as a leader. This conference focuses more on the latter.
Thanks for posting about these events, Toby. Yes we are looking at the how and the why of leadership and, as you know, Maggie and Marie-Claire have so much expertise on this.
I’m so excited to be teaming up with @marieclaireb.bsky.social and @stevemunby.bsky.social to offer this event. We are learning so much in planning the events so please come along and join our conversation - see below for more information and to register.
Yes. Very pleased to be involved in this conference with Marie-Claire and Maggie and to share how our thinking is developing about leadership mindset.
Delighted to see that Katrina Morley has been awarded an OBE in the New Years Honours. Hugely deserved.

Unbelievably, there is 40% off #UnfinishedBusiness from @crownhousepub.bsky.social this week. I am not a huge #BlackFriday fan, but I am making an exception for this #BemoreTim
Pleased to be in Oxford today to work with colleagues on UCL’s NPQEL programme. Listening to a great session from Matt Silver on deep listening and understanding your mission. @andyhodgkinson.bsky.social
The best two days of learning I get once a year - this time last week at SLS Conference 24. It was my absolute honour to introduce @stevemunby.bsky.social and listen to not only him but @progmasc.bsky.social and @theaieducator.io #SLS2024

Going to put this back up here as I think it's particularly relevant today. How we integrate ideas, rather then taking about turns and total differences, is where we need to move toward in it sector.

"Tim Brighouse raised standards & he was loved. 'Unfinished Business' is full of contributions from great thinkers, able politicians, school leaders, teachers, friends, colleagues & academics.
None of them is in any doubt that we all need to be more Tim." @stevemunby.bsky.social 1/2

"Good schools are joyous & purposeful places where people enjoy being together, connect with the real world & experience memorable & funny events, happiness & sadness. They help pupils to think for themselves & act for others." Love this. @stevemunby.bsky.social, David Cameron & Mick Waters.
