Another thought - I listened to several of King's audiobooksand was hooked that way. Some of them are read so well.

Yeah, true, it might be for some, but I like it's length, not too long, and the complete messed up-ness. Also, the way King creates such a complete world out of seemingly nothing. It's masterful.

The Long Walk is a good start I think. Or Carrie or Misery. I love The Stand and think it holds up as one of the best stories of all time, but it is long. IT as well.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

When the Ministry cannot explain how a foreign company won a national contract to hold the learning data of every child in Aotearoa, it is not an administrative inconvenience.
It is a breach of trust.

Also - isn't that a Principal's job? To listen to their community? I mean, bullying isn't the right way to go about it of course, but if an issue is important to the community, the principal probably should hear about it.

Every decade, we hear "the kids can't read or write!"

Interventions that don't work are proposed. Those that do work are ignored: reducing class sizes, making kids & families feel safe at school and welcome, becoming a community resource.

When their expensive reform fails, they yell at us again.
