🧵Before 2007, Gazan day laborers would cross the border to find work inside Israel, often in construction. They were often just called "Ahmed."

Before this actual Ahmed was born & killed, Ehud Banai wrote a song that just came back to my heart, an effort tell the humanity of the anonymous "Ahmeds."

"Lebanon’s health ministry said Israeli forces 'pursued' journalists Zeinab Faraj and Amal Khalil by striking the house where they had taken shelter...a Lebanese Red Cross ambulance was then obstructed and fired upon while attempting to evacuate the wounded, including being hit with a stun grenade."

The devastation in Lebanon is clearly visible.
But for children, the impact goes far beyond what we can see.

UNICEF continues to advocate and work for their safety, well-being and protection.

The ceasefire must hold.

Wheelchair shortage deepens crisis for disabled people in Gaza Disabled residents in Gaza are facing a worsening humanitarian crisis as acute shortages of wheelchairs leave many unable to move, access medical care, or live independently. Testimonies from families describe elderly caregivers struggling to manoeuvre damaged or improvised chairs, while some individuals are forced to crawl or share a single wheelchair among several people. Years of Israeli bombardment, displacement and poverty have made repairs costly and replacements nearly impossible to obtain, with prices far beyond what most families can afford leaving vulnerable people isolated in tents. Without urgent intervention, thousands of disabled residents are likely to continue enduring extreme hardship, prompting calls for measures to allow the entry of wheelchairs into the besieged Strip to help ease the burden on those most vulnerable.

The Palestinian woman on the cover of L'Espresso speaks to MEE: "Israeli settlers were ready to kill us" MEE spoke to Palestinian lawyer Meead Abu al-Rub about the widely circulated L'Espresso magazine cover that has brought her international attention after she was filmed being harassed by Israeli settlers during an olive harvest in October 2025. The 35-year-old Palestinian, who works with the Wall and Settlement Authority, said she was documenting a peaceful land-related activity in the Soba area of Idna al-Khalil when the situation escalated, with settlers and Israeli forces moving in to intimidate participants and force the event to stop. Abu Al-Rub armed settlers and soldiers confronted the group within minutes, describing threats, intimidation and the use of tear gas that led organisers and landowners to withdraw for safety reasons.

Gaza worker restores stove burners as families adapt to fuel shortages A Gaza worker who restores and manufactures stove burners says families are increasingly relying on repaired and improvised equipment as fuel shortages continue to disrupt daily life. From his workshop, he explained that he has spent more than 30 years in the trade, producing locally made burners and repairing older ones to help people cope with limited access to cooking fuel. He said the ongoing blockade, combined with shortages of gas and firewood and rising costs, has left many residents unable to afford basic necessities, forcing them to depend on stove burners despite their high prices. With spare parts largely unavailable, he has developed improvised repair techniques, including modifying burner nozzles to reduce fuel consumption and extend their lifespan.

People citing the story about how the IDF sent the Lebanese village of Debel a new statute of Jesus should probably acknowledge that the residents rejected it and had a more appropirate one rebuilt by UNIFIL.

Pingree, Massie Team Up to Strip Big Chemical Immunity from Farm Bill

🚨NEWS🚨

Rep. Massie and I just introduced a bipartisan amendment to strip the pesticide liability shield from the Farm Bill.

If a company’s product makes people sick, it should be held accountable. If states and communities want to create stronger protections, they should have every right to do so.

Rescue teams managed to pull injured correspondent Zeinab Faraj from Tayri. However, al-Akhbar correspondent Amal Khalil remains trapped in the town.
The two correspondents were covering an Israeli strike on a car in Tayri, which killed its two occupants, Mukhtar Ali Bazzi and Mohammad al-Hourani. The Israeli force then struck the site again, injuring the journalists. A third strike then targeted the main road connecting Tayri and Hadatha to cut access to ambulances and trap the two journalists.
When the Red Cross arrived, they recovered the two bodies and rescued Faraj, before the Israeli army dropped a stun grenade on them, forcing them to withdraw without reaching Khalil. They returned to Tebnine Governmental Hospital with no further information about her condition.
The Union of Journalists has appealed to relevant authorities to take immediate action to secure her evacuation, while the Ministry of Information condemned the attack and held Israel responsible for her safety.

According to local sources & Lebanon's National News Agency, Israeli military fired on the ambulance taking Zainab to the hospital

2 hours ago 4 3 1 1

UPDATE: Zainab has been rescued & taken to the hospital, injured. Amal remains trapped under rubble after an Israeli airstrike stopped the Red Cross from rescuing her (sounds like a double-tap strike targeting first responders, a tactic so favored by Israel that they've now upped it to four strikes)

All this happening while Lebanese officials meet with representatives of the very people doing the killing.

This is typical of Israel's "negotiating" tactics, btw. They have a habit of killing civilians during their "negotiations."
