It is really early to tell the significance of this bc it could all be reversed on appeal on both whether the judge's early 1A and 230 decisions were correct (which allowed this to proceed to trial) and then the jury's decision as well.

This will likely be years before it is final -- or not!

Ms. Halligan, who took over on Monday after her predecessor quit rather than prosecute James B. Comey with what he believed was insufficient evidence, had a little trouble with the first two tasks. At one point, she entered the wrong courtroom. When she found the right one, she stood on the wrong side of the judge, then appeared confused about the paperwork she just had signed.

Autocracy in America There are authoritarian tactics already at work in the United States. To root them out, you have to know where to look.

Last summer, @peterpomerantsev.bsky.social and I produced a short podcast series, Autocracy in America. We talked about the changed that preceded an assault on democracy in other countries, and we found them here. Perhaps useful background for the current moment.

More speech is now called censorship.

Medically adapted foundation models (think Med-*) turn out to be more hot air than hot stuff. Correcting for fatal flaws in evaluation, the current crop are no better on balance than generic foundation models, even on the very tasks for which benefits are claimed.

People are often surprised when I tell them this: both Twitter and Facebook/insta/threads are now specifically engineered to downgrade, hide, suppress real journalism. If this platform is different, that's a huge change
