Always gets under my skin a little bit that *so often* the conversation surrounding it is the same surface level complaints I’ve heard for nearly 15 years now, and I’ve gotten a wee bit tired. I get why people wouldn’t care for it but there’s a lot of stuff to love about it I think

I didn’t even have a Wii U when it was Nintendo’s flagship and I still enjoy mine quite a bit. Lot of fun games, the gamepad is SO comfortable to hold, the UI is charming, and I love the game boxes being that shade of blue. Tropical Freeze, Woolly World, Pikmin 3, 3D World, etc all great times IMO

This attitude people have REALLY bugs me. I think in general it comes from the whole “negativity sells” bit, it’s a lot easier and a lot more popular to beat down on something than to praise it, and what simpler a metric to use than “durrrr it sold bad lol.”

This is so real, I could not care less about the monetary value of my games, I collect physical cause I think it’s fun!!!! If the value of games went down I’d only see that as a win. If for some reason I were to sell something in my collection, I’d likely do so at a loss just to give people a break

There’s just such a satisfaction in having a wall of DVDs, CDs, and video games, the feeling of putting the discs or cartridge into the system, etc. And knowing that Nintendo and Sony can’t get their grubby mitts on my copies of their games lol. Having physical box art is wonderful and fun too

That probably is the difference lol. Growing up in the 2000’s I only experienced the 90’s through hand-me-downs and so that cultural decade exists in this weird limbo of both nostalgic and foreign for me. I just have a love for the cheesy “radical” energy that 12 year old boys found cool.

I wasn’t exactly alive for its heyday in the 90’s but I miss people sarcastically saying something and then going “….NOT!” It’s imbued with such cheesy 90’s rebellion and I love it lol, notable favorite use of it is in Weird Al’s “I Was Only Kidding” about halfway-ish through the song

The first one in retrospect just has me feeling like this GIF cause like. It got me invested in the characters! It was kinda cookie cutter at times but it at least felt like there was SOME weight and build-up to things happening rather than them just happening!

- It was entertaining and my inner Nintendo fan was just overjoyed to see all my nerd crap on the big screen. That said:
- I thought the first movie was weightless but uh. Oh my gosh. I can only describe this one as a “collection of scenes.” It has the bones of an interesting plot but zero meat.

Cool cool then, glad we were able to reach an amiable conclusion. That’s pretty rare online lol so I appreciate it
