Definitely. This varies from state to state but I know California and Oregon have incentives for apartment buildings and condos to add chargers. I think CA even requires it for new multi family buildings that have parking @zamafir.bsky.social ?

Yes. I’m at $0.025 per mile. But I figured out the per gallon of gas equivalent

🤣
Never. And the Ioniq 5 charges faster, has more standard features like wireless CarPlay, and is just a better car. No reason to buy a Tesla in 2026. We have 2 non Tesla EVs and couldn’t be happier.
So much goal post moving out there! … hard to tell if some of those comments come from bots or trolls or just folks who have been mislead.
It took me a few weeks to adjust mentally and the first road trip was is a bit of an adventure, but once you get into it there are so many benefits.
“I need to be able to drive 82 hours with no bathroom breaks, charge in .5 seconds, and it needs to cost $5 new or I’m out”
The rest of the world is moving on. “The future has already arrived, it just not evenly distributed yet” William Gibson.
EV sales reach 51% in Europe.
This is the math for my other EV. Smaller battery and less range but per mile equivalent is the same.

Me too! ☺️
I always forget to do that! Usually it's in the garage and it doesn't get too cold here, but on a hot day I need to remember to do that.
240v and metric measurements... sign me up. 😊
pretty spot on!
Agreed. We have home solar. But most people don’t so I use the math for the cost to charge from the utility for people.
No prob. Our electricity is very cheap here in the PNW but no matter where you live it’s cheaper than gas.
I was pretty intimidated to make the switch almost 4 years ago but my friend @zamafir.bsky.social patiently answered all my questions. Feel free to ask whatever!
You’ve replied this same thing to two posts of mine. Block.
I've got solar as well, I just usually don't include that because most folks don't have it, so I just use the utility rate as a comparison.
I forgot about those, those were fantastic!
And both my cars came with free chargers. I think there is a lot of misinformation around these. We just paid $30 to an electrician to instal a 240v outlet on a 50amp circuit, but you can just plug into a wall outlet.
Congrats!
LOL, exactly. Have you sen this video with Rory Sutherland imagining just that? youtu.be/OTOKws45kCo?...
Nice! We also have home solar but most people don’t have that so I quote the utility electric cost difference. Powering our cars from sunlight hitting our roofs feels like Science Fiction. It's pretty amazing.
Did that first actually. But most people don’t have that so I quote the utility electric cost difference.
I’m not sure why someone would want to pay more to go slower and have more maintenance? 🤷♂️
It would be a lot less than your monthly car gas bill. Every time I charge I pay $70 less than the equivalent in gasoline.
Nope. The majority of our electricity here comes from Hydro. The last coal plant closed in this state years ago & they are spinning down one of the gas plants.
Even so, ICE cars are just incredibly in efficient. Are you wanting to pay more to go slower?

Here is the math from my other EV:

I’m not sure. I’ve never done a read up on the history of that. I’m sure someone has well documented it.
We have solar as well. I don't include that in the math because most people don't have it ... yet. It is getting more and more common though. We did solar and home battery backup about 5 years ago.
Congrats! Hope you enjoy it as much as we have!
