Built a nucleus hive, as a temporary hive for a small colony of bees. I have a small colony in a poly nuc but the wooden one is prettier. They don't care either way but I prefer this one.

This is stunning; and reminds me of 1920s art deco designs too; I have no idea whether they were deliberately drawing on earlier Japanese designs or whether it's coincidental.

Yes, it's extraordinary! I'd seen videos before but never watched them march in like that in real life; delightful!

A beekeeper in a pink bee suit stands on an apiary examining a bee sitting on her gloved hand. Several other bees are resting on her suit, including a cluster on top of her hood.

Bees are amazing. One of our colonies decided to swarm today, while we were doing a bit of tidying up in the apiary, so we got to watch the whole process, and then get them settled into a new home.

Damnit, suddenly I really want a very good, very thin, very Italian pizza. Which in our case we do not have.

The problem is they just don't know anything about anything, and they assume everyone else is as ignorant as they are.

Currently drowning in my own saliva as an automatic response to this picture.

As a university lecturer, I encourage my students to do this for the same reason.

I literally wrote feedback on an essay yesterday which boils down to "Bro, hella commas".
Might go back in and change it now.

I teach at university level. Someone once asked me if I found it difficult, being surrounded by attractive young people; like, I must be tempted, right?
But like, those are children. They're practically _my_ children. Aesthetically pleasing, or delightful as people? Sure. Tempting? Absolutely not.

It's not just the worst timeline, it's the weirdest.

Been doing a bit of sewing, and I am very pleased with how this turned out. Just need some nice warm weather so I can wear it!

I made myself a jumpsuit and I am delighted with how it has turned out.

I'm pre-emptively blocking anyone I see responding to the Swalwell case with anything resembling "Innocent until proven guilty" as a reason why he should not be off the ticket immediately.

Not something I have experience of I'm afraid; but I suspect it depends whether you want a minimal approach (darn the holes as best you can) or maximal (open her up, unstuff, mend, restuff).

Well, in some parts of England, but not in others. The naming of meals is a strong regional/class indicator.

He'd phrase his threats to annihilate a whole country differently, then?

That's also an option! ๐Ÿคฃ

Basically, yes; if got that cluster into a box, with their queen, you'd wait until evening, when all the scout bees would return, and then shut up the box and move it. You might lose some stragglers, but most of them return to the colony at night.

The very fact that the leader of the most powerful country in the world needs to be treated like a grumpy toddler and there are lots of people who could just remove him from that position but they're not doing it is... I don't even have words.

No condemnation of the threat to destroy a whole civilization then?

To be fair, I'm raising grumpy bees, which works equally well as a mnemonic.

Yes; my mentor says "Will You Raise Good Bees?"; White, Yellow, Red, Green Blue.
