¡Gracias Peter, j y Dan por las palabras!

The actual worst band to search online should have known better. They’re an 00s band. Search engines were absolutely a thing.
The band? THE MUSIC (from Leeds.)
Even on Discogs, it’s not easy to search.
Granted, this is an A.I. overview, but…
“Yes, there are several informal, colloquial, and slang words for "canción" (song) or "pista" (track) in Spanish, with the most popular ones being rola (Mexico) and tema (widely used in Spain and Latin America).”
Is there an alternate more informal word in Spanish, besides “canción”, for “song / track”?
Ah, I might have screwed up, haha
Oh my anecdote was in the 80s in the U.S… American normies (mostly) loved Boy George back then, but were cautiously fascinated with Pete Burns.
This is before recent revelations re: Boy George.
¿En inglés? No creo. Nunca oí “pista” en inglés por “track”
My (conservative) mom watched a Dead or Alive video (I think it was “Come Home With Me, Baby”) and remarked “I can’t believe I’m saying this… Pete Burns is GORGEOUS!” Boy George -> Pete Burns was the 1-2 punch of needed exposure (among other acts, obv.)
I both love and feel embarrassed to discover a great Seattle band that started over a decade ago. In this case, that band is Haunted Horses.
First thought: they're like Dreamdecay's dark industrial siblings.
This track, "Grey Eminence", is from their latest album from 2025.
Or be a young person today, who probably didn’t read a gazillion Peanuts books.
It’s worth thinking about why they don’t call them protractable bollards
DUH! I mean if bollards aren’t a turn on, do you even urban?
URBANIST: [taking a selfie video] Hey folks! I'm here at the now-CAR FREE Pike Place Market -I'm walking around this iconic local spot without having to worry about BEING MURDERED BY A CAR -Notice how peaceful and calm everyth--ope! [they bump into another person taking a selfie video) URBANIST 2: Sorry! I'm just documenting how nice it is here without cars, for my urbanism blog! URBANIST 1: So am I! URBANIST 1: I have 2 words for you: retractable bollards URBANIST 2: Oh god yes [They make out in the middle of the road as people continue to walk by]

Not to mention - in the U.S. anyway - how expensive it usually is to miss a domestic flight, even if it’s a refundable ticket.
(Citizen Kane is still very watchable and enjoyable even with the spoiler - but man, imagine no spoiler for that one.)
Citizen Kane — I read a spoiler of it in a Peanuts collection older than me. 😭
I am very lucky to have seen many movies w/o spoilers as random VHS rentals as a kid, like Carpenter films The Thing & They Live
40% Spacemen 3
40% My Bloody Valentine
10% cultura pop de 90’s i.e. ST:TNG, Seinfeld
10% WWE
A matrix of mostly dark T-shirts for sale: several are of Spacemen 3 and MBV. One is a sleeveless for Razor Ramón (WWE) and one is Geordie LaForge from Star Trek: TNG. One is for Ride at the bottom right.
Not really a complaint but I keep seeing ads for a business that sells T-shirts. The breakdown is:
40% Spacemen 3
40% My Bloody Valentine
10% 90’s pop culture i.e. ST:TNG, Seinfeld
10% WWE
It’s been both rewarding and befuddling how inconsistent the entire J.B. Catalog is. So many surprises, good and bad.
I feel like I earned the top badge in the Music Nerd Scouts.
At least my completist urges have, for now, severely waned. The James Brown catalog is truly the final boss of music anthologies (maybe second to Willie Nelson.)
I just finished listening to 70 studio albums, dozens of one-off singles and a dozen live albums by James Brown in chronological order because.. I have chronic completism.
Raw immersion and a hard side quest made this fun, and I know A LOT more about James Brown now… but completism is a disease.
Talk about your “industry plants”: Almost 50 years ago, a mysterious band named Christ Child put out their only LP on Columbia subsidiary Buddah, and it went nowhere. Rumors suggest they were either session dudes or moonlighting metalheads posing as punks, but details seem scant. A hoot and a half!
A painting of Lucifer tempting Jesus in the desert. Lucifer is INCREDIBLY naked, dirty, and lurid, rubbing up ons Jesus' robes from behind; his hand is open in offering and is placed in front of Jesus' crotch
I just re-found this painting, which was in a kid's bible I had growing up. I used to obssess over it, and I'm pretty sure seeing Lucifer here was the first time I thought a man was attractive? Over the years I'd think "it couldn't possibly be as horny as I remember it", but I mean come ON
“Awful” not “awfulz” but hey it’s a fun typo
I know ads have always been awful, and social media ads have been truly awfulz
But wow the ads I’m seeing for The Gelatin Trick for weight loss that “The Pharmacies want to ban” is just so comically bad. It’s the “Two Weeks!” Glitch of social media ads.
(Seattle native hearing one thunderclap)
“AWAY WITH THEE, DANTE AS THOU KNOWS NOT MY EXISTING INNER RAGE WITH THIS FOUL FAKE SPRING”
There’s definitely a post-hardcore element to this band that’s barely mentioned in favor of… Primus (eh no) and King Gizzard (eh similar guitar but no)
Fredric Dannen’s Hit Men book, but only for “Outdoor Miner” worldwide and it’s a happy ending.
