Community-led conservation offers new hope for the world's most trafficked mammal | Discover Wildlife A new action plan unites experts and communities to protect pangolins in southern Africa.

I have not been great about keeping up with Bluesky 🫣 but here's my latest for digital BBC Wildlife, which is about the positive impact of community projects and the importance of awareness in conservation.

I say this every time de-extinction comes up: it makes no sense to devote science to bringing back extinct animals when we can’t be bothered to keep extant ones alive in the first place.

Just ask the PR. Some variation of "are you able to share which pubs may have been pitched so far?" should help gain more intel.

Great points here. There's so much room for improvement yet many destinations aren't necessarily heading in a more positive direction. Appreciate your feedback!

It's a nuanced topic for sure. I'd love to hear more of your thoughts, both re; quibbles and exclusivity as the future of tourism.

My latest for Azure Road examines the ethics of exclusivity in tourism. Is it "wrong" for a destination to be financially out of reach for many (most?) of us?

Normally I would never advocate for this, but could you wrap it in plastic for the flight? That might give it some extra support and get it home for repairs?

I also don't mean to be that person but people really need to learn how to be more resourceful if they think they're going to move to a foreign country. Seeking advice from a friend of a friend is not it. Visa specifics are hyper-individual and change often; my advice is irrelevant.

Completing the series (just facing the opposite direction for better light 😅 ). Picked up my actual German passport today at the one-month mark of becoming a citizen!

Huge infringement on freedom of speech and freedom to assemble. They know TikTok is a key means of communication for millions in the US and they took it away. It's not about data privacy, this is about control (and money, always).

I've very willingly entered into an arrangement with a nearby family whereupon I watch their puppy three mornings a week, but I'm afraid it's ruining my life because someone else's dog is now the only thing I can think about and I'm so sad when he's not with me 🙃

I'm skipping it this year, I think. I love it as an excuse to go to London and meet with friends and PRs, but I can't bear another year of the France and Canada saturation when I'm focused on Africa.

Picked this up this morning, feels more real now!

(It's green because it's a temporary passport - I'm flying to Hong Kong on Tuesday and need to be able to legally exit/reenter the EU. The red one will be ready when I'm back.)

That'll do it. I was technically eligible a year ago but wanted to wait since there was chatter about the dual citizenship law changing, and luckily it did.

Danke! And if they are I've not heard about it. Think that might have ceased during Covid?

Huge relief! And definitely lots of paperwork (with a little more to come to get the passport and national ID), but worth it in the end for sure.
