#OnThisDay 1974 : The first edition of TISWAS was broadcast in the ATV region. It would slowly take off through the various ITV regions as years went by although some until the final series and Channel TV not at all.

There is a story about Sylvester McCoy misbehaving quite a bit during a meal with the Tiswas crew on one special occasion somewhere (not the Garryowen though), that might have been in a curry house.

The Tiswas team would frequently go to the Garryowen club in Sparkbrook which was a notoriously rough place. It was not an Indian restaurant. These days it does have a connection with Asia, it's now an Asian wedding venue.

The first series of Tiswas Nothing survives from the first series of Tiswas in the ATV achives, but we learnt what went on, from the presenters and a few viewers who saw the early shows.

There aren't any recordings of the first series of Tiswas, so to get an idea of what it was like, we spoke to presenters and a few viewers.
