over the past few years or so, I've pondered the question of "what is my comfort game?" a game I can always rely on when I need a bit of a distraction, a game I can never tire of.. my ol' reliable. in hindsight, it was silly for me to ponder this for so long, when for over a decade, the answer has been in front of me the whole time. My comfort game, is Mega Man X. from the first time I played it, around 2013, 2014, I was in love. everything about this game just clicked with me. is it my favorite game? no, that's mother 3. is it my favorite X series game? I'm not sure, there's a couple I have in mind that I feel surpass it, but what X1 is for me is reliable. to get a bit personal, the beginning of this year hasn't been the most pleasant mentally, but the moment I booted this back up yesterday, and finished it today, I definitely did cheer up a bit. thank you, for being in my life Mega Man X, here's to hoping X9 is a reality.

don't ask me how or why it took me so long to watch this despite being really excited for it but regardless, this was great. as someone who didn't come to appreciate the fantastic 4 until I heard about this movie coming out, I think it was a pretty good jumping on point for a new fan like me. I loved all the.. themes and such about family, and kindness, it struck a lot of emotional chords with that. my main gripes come from the somewhat iffy CGI, and I guess the pacing a bit, it feels like they tried to stuff a little too much in here but what they managed to pull off is really good. *sigh* doomsday is gonna be weird, isn't it?

Okay so! I was definitely very intrigued to finally finish AM2R for the first time, as this game is glazed almost constantly by the fanbase, and to jump the gun here, that's for good reason. Upon finishing it, then getting every item to finish it with 100%, this is a fangame that's so good it deserves to be put alongside the official metroid releases. now does that mean I think you should only ever play this and not the gameboy game or samus returns? ...no! let me explain. as good as AM2R is, I still think the original game especially deserves its flowers, and is very much worth playing and experiencing. this is closer to the original game than samus returns, but it's still an entirely different experience in my eyes. also, I think samus returns is well worth experiencing too, but I'll save that for when I play samus returns. That said I honestly don't know if I genuinely like this more than the gameboy game, maybe I need some more time, but that aside, fantastic metroid game.
