The comments. Oh, the comments 😅 And I say this as I look around my house and admire my rapidly multiplying plants.

So many of our problems could be fixed by properly funding public education.
He’s a very sweet cat!

An adorable cat curled up in a sink.

A drawing on a glass board of a dinosaur saying “Read!”
I love our students!
A juvenile/middle-grade section of library shelving.
If I had to guess, I’d say 75-80% of these books (the juvenile section) have a 12-year-old main characlter. It is a one-size-fits-all age for publishing, but not for actual kids. We need more #youngteenlit
Play Like a Girl has been a big hit at my library. I’ll pre-order this!
Book cover for Where Ella Went by Laurie Morrison.
I saw this over on Instagram and it looks and sounds delightful! AND the mc is an eighth-grader, so bordering on #youngteenlit. Fantastic! Bringing this one in for sure.
They just don’t get it.
“…social contact without the expectation…”
So important these days!!
Book censorship affects everyone indirectly.
Junk mail from Republicans telling me mail-in voting is safe, secure and easy, but isn’t this where they claim so much fraud happens?
I’m so confused.
This is a good deep-dive into the current state of YA books. Not many of my students are even into romantasy. They want realistic teenager romance that’s less spicy, without cringey covers- getting so hard to find for our collection.
Book cover of Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
Current read (not my usual genre, reading at my daughter’s request)
I am proud daily to be a librarian.
Current listen (and learning a lot I didn’t know about movies)
Book cover of The Lions’ Run by Sara Pennypacker
Current read (and delightful so far!)
A former student stopped by to say hi and thank me for being a safe space for her when she was in school. She wanted to tell me she is on hormones now and legally changing her name. She brought me a macaroon. Kindness is so simple. We hope we help. It’s nice to find out when we do.
Easter is funny with adult kids. They still expect the baskets and egg hunt (umm, no, and okayyyy because the hunt is competitive and entertaining for me) but they also want help with their taxes 😅
This dictionary idea is top notch.
I love this!!
It’s #kidlitartpostcardday! We can ALL experience delightful art today- hooray!
This one speaks to me, reminding me spring WILL COME.
*as we sit here waiting for a winter storm onset 😢
Book cover of The Fountain by Casey Scieszka.
Just finished this and it was moving and thought-provoking. I enjoyed it immensely! Have already book-talked it to a patron, who checked it out, so digital pic instead of real pic.
