I would like it if the people seeking the highest office in the land had a vision for the country that goes beyond a belief that power is good and they should be the one in charge.
I think it's super that the president of the United States is a dementia-ravaged diva who swings wildly from threatening to wipe out an entire civilization to rambling publicly about how the executive producers of "Hart to Hart" were extremely rude to him at Spago in 1983.
I mean I’m rarely called upon for diplomatic prowess or anything but it kind of seems to me that a key deal point to nail down in any ceasefire would be which specific fire is ceasing
Looking, again, for a steelman view of this. Is there ANY plausible argument that we didn’t just kill a bunch of people to no purpose and hand a giant geopolitical victory to an extremist regime after making it more entrenched and more extreme?
Like… We cannot go ahead and have the World Cup now like nothing is going on. Regardless of what does or doesn’t happen tonight. Countries should simply refuse to send teams. The rest of the world cannot treat us as a remotely normal country after this
When the President and leader of your party is threatening that a whole civilization will die, I'd love something a bit stronger than "Well I wouldn't do it."
losing contact with the earth for 40 minutes sounds nice
Eventually someone will accuse me of secretly having wanted a son because I put my daughter in baby boy clothes, but really it's because this hood has a shark fin on it and I refuse to restrict shark hoods by gender.
It would be cool to recover some of the shared optimism, sense of pride in collective achievement, cultural support for smarts and skill, and other positive elements of the space program, instead of associating space with Nazi weirdos who want to trade horses for sex.
There is an enormous difference between "path to redemption" and "path back to the same wealth and fame he enjoyed before his fuckery became known" and most people demanding the first are really demanding the second. And to those people I say, "Kick rocks."
Um, I fucking love this?
The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.
“How lucky is the United States that everytime they look for democracy in other countries they find oil instead”- Spain Deputy Gabriel Rufián
See, this is MEANT to be tongue in cheek, with the treating it seriously being ironic. But the New York Times can’t pull it off because of what they’ve become. The mock-seriousness is too close to how they routinely are.

Pretty telling that the Iranians can be trusted more to tell us what’s going with this war than the actual president of the United States.
“Everywhere I went in New York people openly loathed the very sight of me. So naturally I concluded that the entire city had gone crazy and I left. There was no other possible explanation.”
The president of the United States is responsible for his own decisions, none more than the choice to order the US military into war.
Many countries ask the US president to do things. Whether he does or not is his call, and he bears responsibility for that choice.
Can't believe I have to say this.
Pope Leo is the first Pope to have ever experienced the US healthcare system, so there's that
Trump's Comey hate-boner is so fucking funny because without this guy and his "but her emails" letter, Trump probably never becomes president at all.
is it great that it took 12 years and Gas Price Go Up for her to figure this out? no. and so I don't forgive her even a little. But if Gas Price Go Up kills the last of his support, I will take it.
Are you telling me Trump LIED???
Impeach this racist.

It’s sleazy as shit to do but also goddamn it looks so much better www.paulkuharsky.com/news/titans-...
I think I'm numb now to Trump saying these things. But I don't think I'll ever get used to the sound of the audience laughing along with him
At least that clears things up.
there is no reforming this; firing and prosecution is the compromise position
The US govt mixing video of real violence in a war it started with a video game scene feels like crossing a(nother) line.
I’m not sure what to say. I don’t think war is a game. And even when I think military action is necessary, there are real human beings on the other end, not pixels that respawn.
