Bears are incredible swimmers! Their natural buoyancy lets them float effortlessly, making it easier to hunt and rest in the water. Who knew they could be so graceful?

My position is pretty simple: if you want the public to support using public money to remodel a stadium, then you need to make the case to them in public about why using those funds is better than some alternative. The tradeoffs associated with use those funds should be honest, clear and thorough.

Everyone knows the way you change the Constitution is to have six people in robes make up a new Constitution as they go along.

In February 1777, General George Washington ordered the first mass immunization campaign in American history by mandating that his troops be inoculated against smallpox. He protected the Continental Army from an epidemic that was deadlier than British forces.

249 years later, we have this idiot.

Southern Poverty Law Center indicted on federal fraud charges by Alabama grand jury Justice department’s inquiry focused on the civil rights organization’s prior use of paid informants to monitor hate groups, the CEO said

The Trump regime doesn’t like the Southern Poverty Law Center labeling hate groups as hate groups, so it’s weaponizing the Justice Department to try to destroy the SPLC. This is DOJ taking the side of the Klan.

A reminder that the number one domestic terror threat in America remains white supremacist and right-wing terrorism.

How many times has the Trump Administration talked about this threat? What have they done to stop it?

Oh yeah, they're part of MAGA. Nevermind.

Let's go after SPLC instead!

7-story TOD → drive-thru, and some developers call it a win.

Costs matter, but why is the easiest thing to permit next to transit in Los Angeles a car-centric use?

Pros:
Reduces fatalities
Reduces injuries
More people biking
Less pollution
Economic boost
Less congestion
Healthier population
Kids biking/rolling to school
Safer sidewalks
Helps address the climate emergency
Increase active transportation
More inclusive spaces

Cons:
A driver might get mad

If only the pros outweighed the cons.

Yet for most municipalities the "Cons" outweigh the "Pros"!

A clip from The New York Times reads: "But only the entities that officially paid the tariffs are eligible to recover that money. That means that the fuller universe of people affected by Mr. Trump’s policies — including millions of Americans who paid higher prices for the products they bought — are not able to apply for direct relief.

The extent to which consumers realize any gain hinges on whether businesses share the proceeds, something that few have publicly committed to do. Some have started to band together in class-action lawsuits in the hopes of receiving a payout."

The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.

I used a bike rack this weekend that exists because I complained about it not existing.

You can make things better, even just a little.

Coupled with the Palantir manifesto this weekend, the KKK masks are off and it won't be long before they are openly talking about the need for a 'Final Solution'. There is probably already a database (Thanks Flock cameras) of targets being prepared.

An underappreciated outcome of a diversion program - while people rarely share being voting for distraction with others, many participants share their experiences from the diversion program

That sharing gets the messages to reach more people, and potentially change the behavior of others

Karen Bowman discusses behavior as part of a belief system - people see and experience driving distracted without a crash and believe it is safe

That belief about safety needs to be corrected to get behavior to change. Punishments can have limits on behavior change. Diversion can change belief

Ontario is buying clean generation. But its long-term plans remain anything but technologically agnostic Latest procurement round awarded contracts to 12 solar and two wind projects through the Independent Electricity System Operator

Ontario building renewables because they’re cheaper and faster to deploy than any other energy source. Not paying for fuel is the ultimate life hack.

Auckland had a yimby rapture in 2018, but Singapore has been living in planner nirvana since 1971

There’s a 360-degree movie room suggesting that planners steer the city like the starship Enterprise, a Streetmix knockoff lane-allocation game, a huge scale model of the central city, and much more

900lb crates full of onions in a field

The Coachella music festival is in the news with the minimum price of sold out 3-day ticket costing $549. Contrast that with "Nicolas" who is currently harvesting onions in the Coachella area and getting paid $22 for a $900lb crate. #WeFeedYou #coachella2026

Pike Place Market just released new sales data for Feb 2026. Looks like Jan+Feb 2026 had 11% higher sales than Jan+Feb 2025 (before the pedestrian pilot)! Congrats Seattle, you managed to find a way to shop at the market in the dead of winter without driving your cars through the middle of it.
