Some kind of Craigslist-type advert showing an exercise treadmill that's been converted into a massive belt sander by replacing the walking strip thingy with a sanding belt. The owner used it to flatten an end-grain cutting board.

I'm afraid this is another "dudes rock" situation (swiped off /r/woodworking)

Don't forget who the Catholic Church is stanning the pope. They're still a home for bigotry.

The catholic monopoly on American healthcare is one of the major reasons our healthcare is so shit

Religion should have no place in healthcare

Israel hit all over Beirut. Strikes were in nearly all the neighborhoods surrounding my house. Reports saying many injured and dead. Israel seems to be intensifying before a ceasefire is implemented

I cannot keep track with how many notifications I'm getting from all over Beirut and south Lebanon right now of the places that Israel is obliterating. There are multiple reports of multiple massacres in the past hour alone.

Proportional Representation for Boston DSA:

Proportional representation helps ensure Boston DSA's big tent is represented in our chapter leadership. The current system, like the U.S. electoral system, relies on winner-take-all races and risks locking minority factions and independents out of leadership.

In our current system, if caucus A gets 34%, caucus B gets 33%, and caucus C gets 32% (and there is even distribution of caucus C votes if they are eliminated), Caucus A gets 7 seats, Caucus B gets 3 seats, and Caucus C gets 1 seat. Under the proposed system, Caucus A would get 4 seats, Caucus B would get 4 seats, and Caucus C would get 3 seats.

Boston DSA needs proportional representation- let's have a leadership body that reflects our chapter!

In Korea, when the president declared martial law after midnight and erected barricades in Seoul, congressional reps from all parties ran into the streets, yanked ak47s from the army at the barricades, broke down the locked door to Congress, repealed the martial law order, and arrested the president

Every part of the lily plant is deadly to cats - even drinking water that lilies were sitting in can kill them. Other popular spring flowers like tulips and daffodils can also make them very sick, but there are plenty of beautiful and safe alternatives.

The professor reportedly wrote in a March 18 newsletter, which he sent via the center’s listserv, that “Israeli actions tell us that they seek the destruction of the state, not just its ruling class.” The email, titled “More notes on the Iran war,” reportedly added that it “was always BS” that the Islamic Republic was pursuing nuclear weapons.

The U. of Washington stripped its Director of Middle East Studies of his position for writing an email that said “Israeli actions tell us that they seek the destruction of the state, not just its ruling class” and that Iran had not been pursuing nuclear weapons.

In other words, for stating facts.

Bacon is remembered for making a strong case for formalizing how people should investigate nature but there’s little discussion of the fact that he firmly situated his framework in a belief that man’s role (and he meant men!) is to dominate and exploit nature

supreme court cases are exercises of power and political will. the language and the interpretive methods are tools to reach the desired outcome.

michael + the 5-4 crew do a good job of showing this, but it is remarkable how much most law schools and legal publications totally ignore it

“You couldn’t ban trans-affirming therapy either,” say the very smart Elena Kagan, who knows full well that states are freely banning schools using trans kids’ pronouns as well as gender-affirming care—which is infinitely more expressive.

Interesting how the NYT soft peddles this by saying "critics say".

No, Ben Gvir who wrote the law, says that.

White House: Reopening Strait of Hormuz Not Vital to Ending Iran War Karoline Leavitt said reopening the Strait of Hormuz was not a "core objective" of winning the Iran War for President Trump.

New: The White House is signaling that reopening the Strait of Hormuz is not a must-have to end the Iran War, potentially setting the stage for Iran to continue to flex its strategic position over one of the world's busiest oil shipping channels for the foreseeable future

AP is calling Israel's attack on Lebanon an invasion. What does that mean and why does it matter? The Associated Press is now calling Israel’s military actions in southern Lebanon an invasion. Israel has moved thousands of troops across the border into Lebanon, although it won't say how many.

The notoriously deferential Associated Press is finally calling Israel's attacks on Lebanon what it is— an invasion.

In an attempt to ward off the inevitable crying and screaming from pro-Israel media watchdogs like CAMERA, they explain why in this article.
