This is, I think anyway, why the Leman Russ' design works so well; it borrows elements from modern MBTs, but its pedigree is so firmly rooted in WWI-Interwar designs. The anti-subtlety of massive, tracked sledgehammers is peak Guard.

The Space Marinea going all hover tank was Bad (IMO) and the latest two Guard vehicles being Literally From WW2 is the same (IMO) 😕

The whole point of the Imperium, certainly vehicle design wise, was something that most people would go "That shouldn't work!" and it does anyway.
