First, beautiful!
Second, since joining Bluesky I'm always shocked how far ahead MN everyone else is wrt blooms...I need flowers!
IDK, I'm coming at this from the left, but I think it's the opposite. I think from the word GO, the right decided to turn this into a wedge issue. See: Steve Drazkowski's behavior during the commission meetings. (I know he's always a divisive ass, but still)

Snuggly lil bloodroot engaging in self care.

Sounds like I just need to experiment!
How many winters have they been through? They look at least a few years old.
We get pretty cold here in MN, I've always been nervous about potted perennials and I end up putting them in the garage
Wake up babe, new dowsing rod just dropped.
Also, hello from a fellow Sam native gardener π«‘
That pot looks incredible! How do you overwinter it? (I'm guessing you don't replant it every year.)

Purple-pink flowers compared against out of focus brown tree trunks
Three yellow lilies on a slope with a variety of green leaves
Two flowers each with eight perfectly white petals
A clump of white rue flowers, with cut leaf toothwort leaves deceptively looming in the background
Mammoth Cave NP delivered some great spring ephemerals... I'm ready to see some of these in Minnesota now

The Goth Gardener short looks cool as hell with native plants

What looks like a blood root flower, but surrounded by leaves that are *not* blood root
I just found one blooming at Mammoth Cave NP! I had never seen one in bloom before, I initially thought it was bloodroot
Looks like the root nodules evolved once, then that ability was lost multiple times. As you said, probably not worth the energy in environments with plentiful nitrogen.
Sally Struthers was on the Smothers Brothers!
What a world...
Damn, that would've been awesome. St Paul needs a vacancy tax...
A six panel comic. In panel 1, a banner says "Pigeons make milk" and a smaller banner says "A fact you didn't need to know". A pigeon stands looking at the reader next to a carton of milk. In panel 2, the text says "Like mammals, pigeons feed milk to their babies. Both male and female pigeons produce it." Two pigeons sit next to their pink and gray babies, all looking happy, and one of the parents says, "Teamwork." In panel 3, the text says "Pigeons don't have nipples. They make milk in a part of their esophagus and regurgitate it." Two pigeons stand next to each other, one with a cow udder and one with a line of nipples down its chest, with red X's next to them. In panel 3, the text says "Amazingly, it evolved independently from mammal milk but it's triggered by the same hormone, prolactin." A black and white dairy cow looks down at a pigeon, who says "We're not so different, you and I." In panel 5, the text says "Like our milk, it has fats, proteins, immune-supporting substances, and more." A cow foot and a pigeon wing are shown high-fiving, and text says "milk high five". In panel 6, the text says "However, it's very chunky, so don't trust any pigeon to make you a good latte." A white coffee cup steaming with a latte inside is shown with the contents censored, and a pigeon leans into the frame looking proud of itself.
Pigeon milk.
OMG the blurred latte π
Thank you for sharing the good news, this story is great
Damn, congrats. My son was recently diagnosed with ADHD and going through that I've been sitting back thinking...πββοΈ Maybe I should finally talk to someone about my own stuff?
