It remains notable that The Onion — The Onion! — has had a stronger moral compass and more clear set of values in this moment than nearly every powerful and well-funded institution in American life.
Three days left for Democrats to demonstrate whether they oppose MAGA fascism or will continue to facilitate it while cosplaying and fundraising as the “anti-MAGA” party
Why haven't Democrats announced, in advance of the April 23 Warner Brothers vote, that once they're in power they will smash the terrorist Paramount monopoly into a thousand pieces?

1 year ago today I was terminated by DOGE from USAID where I worked to get humanitarian aid into Gaza. Everyone I knew across almost 10 years of my career across 3 prior jobs became unemployed as well. My entire LinkedIn network suddenly became "open to work"

the thing about our current moment is that yes, the anti-AI and anti-big tech people are getting very reactive nowadays - but have you seen what they’re *reacting* to?

The Israeli army struck civilians in the Lebanese city of Mayfadoun.
And then, the Israelis double-tapped the medics who arrived onto the scene.
And then, they triple-tapped the next wave of medics.

Tech CEOs love UBI because it's 20 years away and costs them nothing today.
42 million people on SNAP are being cut right now. Not one "thought leader" thread about that.
ZOHRAN: “TBH, I don’t think too much about how Republicans portray me. The power of an ideology is judged in the worth of its delivery— to be told a city-run grocery store is implausible but $500 MILLION/day to kill ppl in Iran & Lebanon is necessary speaks to a broken politics.”

AI generated cartoon of a library inside a BART train
someone on nextdoor made this AI slop making fun of people who support the proposed library at the plaza BART station and it unironically rules. @bart.gov please make this real
OPL used to have a little Kiosk Branch at Oscar Grant Plaza right next to the 12th St. Oakland City Center Station. Commuters loved it. Sadly, it closed due to budget cuts in the '90s. Library literally inside the BART train is a great idea and the next logical step.
Democrats planning to run in November’s midterm elections have been advised not to antagonise pro-AI campaign groups that have amassed more than $300mn to fight for the industry’s priorities. The warnings by top party consultants, corroborated by people close to four different campaigns and party strategists speaking on the condition of anonymity, come despite internal polling for Democrats showing widespread public support for tougher AI rules.
They're calling it the best democracy ever.
