Since my diagnosis I’ve been frequently googling stuff about autism for self knowledge. Of course the search results are an AI mess & in the related questions list is always “what billionaire has Asperger’s?” Every time.

1. I know who it is
2. I couldn’t give less of a fuck

I do like Grayson Perry but there was a moment in his current show on technology where I couldn’t continue watching. He was talking about AI “taking jobs” from the middle class and he suddenly developed a slightly sneering attitude as if they deserve it. Who does he mean by middle class?

Lana Del Rey - First Light (Lyric Video) YouTube video by Lana Del Rey

The Lana song for an upcoming Bond video game is better than the last few actual Bond themes.

Big bright orange lettering in a vaguely graffiti/marker style with big black drop shadow reading ‘Maybe it will happen today’. At the bottom in front of the lettering is a small cartoon turtle with a little hourglass on its back.

For me it’s probably Underworld. The effects are incredibly shoddy, but I love transposing Greek mythology into deep space and the cast are fantastic. Leela and K9 were the first companion team I remember.

Two-panel comic titled “The Life of Sharks!” Top panel: A large shark is being held down by fishing net and barrels by smaller fish. The shark says, “…and then he said, ‘he can’t stay down with three barrels on him.’” The smaller fish laugh “Ha ha ha!” Bottom panel: The shark, still tangled in the net and barrels, says to the laughing fish, “Anyway, I suppose I should get back up there. That boat won’t sink itself.” Comic by Christian Talbot, illustrated by Sophie Hodge.

A compilation of five pieces featuring my original characters:

1. Candy Apple — a woman with red braided hair, dressed in black, holding a glowing knife.
Dynamic pose in a neon city. Mood: bold, dangerous.

2. Leeroy — an albino man in black, holding a rifle, with a glowing exposed heart.
Facing forward in a glitchy cyberpunk setting. Mood: intense, defiant.

3. Mars — a pale man with dark, slicked-back hair, wearing a black coat, with tired eyes.
Adjusting his collar, surrounded by a neon city and abstract shapes. Mood: restrained, introspective.

4–5. Nemesis — a humanoid AI with pale skin, glowing eyes, and a distorted form.
Twisted poses in a glitch field. Mood: unstable, eerie.

Book cover for Metropolis Down by Vesper Doom.

Two men set against an abstract, cosmic background, with a red and green palette.
They float in zero gravity, facing each other. One of them, Eddie Stone (a white man with curly hair, wearing a Starfleet-style uniform), reaches out toward Jett Valla (an Asian man dressed in black).

On a whim I watched John Carpenter's Escape From New York for the first time in over 40 years. I love how he took the piss out of a lot of action hero tropes that Hollywood blockbusters end up using more seriously later on. It's all so lean - a nice, fast 99 minutes. Great fun.

Honestly - I think this might be the strongest opening episode of #Taskmaster in years. I'm loving this season already!

We just got back from watching The Resistible Rise Of Arturo Ui at the RSC in Stratford. Absolutely brilliant adaptation and Mark Gatiss is incredible. The bit where he breaks character and delivers the final lines of the epilogue was breathtaking. I cannot recommend this highly enough.

commission of Gideon, for @dollettas - a sharply dressed man with immaculate midcentury suits, sweaters, chinos etc, standing in front of blinding light with sunglasses. He's got brown hair and a charming gap in his teeth

commission of Michael Smith's DND character- a witch with blonde curly hair, tied up with ribbons. She has a mishmash of different dresses sewn together to make a single quirky dress. There's various expressions of her, including ones casting spells and pulling a magic sword out, glowing as brightly as her eyes/hair do. She also has a magical spellbook.

commission of @tdtlc.bsky.social 's character, a tall man with a mop of brown hair over his face, wearing a bomber jacket and scarf, or just a plain t-shirt. He shows off two massive futuristic guns, and is scratching his chest with a regular t-shirt on- and wears a lot of gold jewelery.

commission of Javier, for @ohheydj - a big guy with brown skin and dyed blue hair, shaved on the side. He has little earrings and a slight beard. He wears futuristic tactical gear, lots of straps, paracord and nylon including grippy boots, a large duffel bag and a beige rain jacket. There's also a few expressions of his face looking determined, chuckling etc.

Yesterday someone I know asked me if I was worried my beard made me look old. (She didn’t mean it unkindly). I said, I’m nearly 54 so I really don’t mind looking old. Quite happy about it to be honest. 🙂

I’m aiming for “fat Gandalf”. Just need a pointy hat and a pipe.

Judging from the joyful reactions I’m seeing worldwide, I can’t be the only one thinking it’d be great to have regular moon missions. Even if there’s no real purpose beyond “isn’t this a cool thing we can do?”

(And leave the billionaires out of it. They ruin everything.)

I’d be happy if we diverted money from wars and just blow it on space missions. A new Artemis mission every month, even if it’s just sending four random astronauts to take pretty photos. I’d never get bored of that. 🧵

It’s a real joy catching up with updates from #ArtemisII. It reminds me of when I was a kid watching the first few shuttle missions or the Voyager flybys.

I know people will complain, what’s the purpose of spending all this money on space missions? Why not spend it on urgent earthbound problems? 🧵
