It seems apt to post this performance of Daniel Blumberg, streamed live from Cafe OTO on 17 March 2020, six days before the first COVID lockdown was enforced. At the time, I genuinely feared my job was going to get me killed. Alone in my attic, whiskey-drunk, I watched in tears, utterly spellbound.

No.
Not been on here (or there) for, I dunno, a year... and then you hit me with I Break Horses and The Story of an Artist. Christ. I missed this. You're pulling me back in.
Oh, OK. How do I do that, David?

Ah, missed this. I mean, I missed this, but also... "I missed this."

Sonic Youth, drawing by Jim Hill (James Worse)
Jimmy Hill (aka James Worse) lived up the road from me, he introduced me to Confusion is Sex/Kill Yr Idols-era Sonic Youth when I was about 15. He also drew the little devil drummer image that appeared on the label for side four of Daydream Nation.
"WATT HERE, I'M DOWNSTAIRS IN THIS WINDOW.. YR UH, PUNK PHONE BOOTH.. THURSTON, WATT.. THURSTON.. I THINK IT'S 10.30.. WE'RE CALLIN' FROM PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND. DID YOU FIND YOUR SHIT?"
Sonic Youth - Providence... I cannot overstate how influential this humble composition, which I first heard on its release in 1988, was on my subsequent listening habits; it's harsh/beauty was an introduction & catalyst to a decades long love affair w/ sound youtu.be/HNo5dCbKy0g?...

Making marks that did not exist before.
This in itself is enough for now.
Where to begin? I want to make a good impression or, at least, not a poor one. But the slate is so shiny and new. Unspoiled. Perhaps I should just leave it be.
