When I was in high school I put up with all the summer training and hard football practices because the idea of what it would feel like to celebrate winning a championship was enough to drive me and get me through it. The idea of celebrating when this is over is similarly getting me through it.

Lovely piece, Drew. Our son is a sophomore, so the brunt of this still hasn’t hit. But he travels a lot for track, so we’ve taken that opportunity to let him walk a campus or two if he wants. It has been illuminating to say the least. I was happy to see us children of the 80s are still so alike. 🙂

And we’ve done a great job leveraging that. We were able to use that energy and those numbers to help get a referendum on the next ballot re: data centers. And down ballot school board and city council candidates have really helped themselves by their appearances and involvement.
I live in a medium-sized Maryland city that is historically a blue island in a county of red. There are protests in the streets here every weekend, protestors on corners nearly every day. It has had a significant effect on swinging local politics and opinion. This HAS to start local.
