A flatscreen display on a "smart" water fountain, demanding to be reconnected to the internet.
In 1999, I was playing a decker in Shadowrun, and tried to distract a guard by hacking a water fountain to overflow, and my GM said "why would a water fountain be on the network? That's fucking stupid. No you can't try."
Well it's 2026 and I just want you to know, Phil, that I FUCKING CALLED IT!

529 - Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song
The blackest movie ever made? There's clearly a lack of technical know-how on display, but that's more than offset by the enthusiasm and ballsy attitude of the director/writer/everything. I love it's uncompromising style. Better than Shaft.

528 - Shaft
The theme song is the best part. Roundtree is a good actor but this is definitely style over substance. I suppose at the time the sheer novelty value made it interesting.
The actual story is fairly cliche and predictable. If it starred Gene Hackman nobody would care

527 - Get Carter
Michael Caine is brilliant at playing an amoral, sociopathic badass. I always forget, which leads to surprise when he can gun somebody down in broad daylight and go about his business. Gritty and uncompromising...
Reminded me why inner city parking garages suck

526 - Még kér a nép (Red Psalm)
Well it's technically very impressive what with the long takes and minimum number of cuts, but not much really happens and it feels like everybody just freezes the second the camera isn't on them. A brave attempt but not very interesting.

525 - The French Connection
Another gritty 70s NYC cop movie. This one's actually quite good. The car/train chase is worth the price of admission alone. Everybody is very quick to shoot first and ask questions later though. Were cops really like that back in the 70s?

524 - Harold and Maude
"Odd friendship" movie between a death-obsessed young guy and a free-spirited senior. Charming, and very very black humour in places. Laugh out loud funny interspersed with existential dread and a rather downbeat ending.
Points off for godawful Cat Stevens tho

I’m on Air Force One heading to Las Vegas and Arizona for Greetings and Speeches on NO TAX ON TIPS, a WINDFALL for our Great American Citizens. I am watching one of the Least Attractive and Talented People on all of Television, Jessica Tarlov. Her voice is so grating and terrible, I had to “turn her off!” Her Democrat soundbites are FAKE. She makes up “Poll Numbers,” and nobody challenges her, because she is so boring. I have among the best Poll Numbers I have ever had, and why shouldn’t I, ALL THE COUNTRY DOES IS WIN. CNN had me at 100%, saying they never saw that before. GET HER OFF THE AIR, SHE IS BAD FOR OUR COUNTRY! I hear Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson, and Candace Owens are dying fast. Their numbers are terrible. Nobody believes them anymore. They were FAKE MAGA, and now they’ve been exposed! President DJT

Exxon scientists predicted global warming with 'shocking skill and accuracy,' Harvard researchers say
In the study, scientists showed how the multinational energy giant worked to cloud the issue.
Exxon's chief scientist reported to their board... in 1977 (!)... that unconstrained burning of fossil fuels would very likely have profound impacts on Earth's climate. Any denier is straight up 100% lying and have been for going on 50 years.

A news headline which reads "Snooker world turns out to remember John Virgo"
The phrasing of this is a bit unfortunate. It sounds like the BBC is surprised that anybody remembers who he is.

523 - Klute
Sutherland mumbles and stares his way through this one. Was he stoned, or just hated being there? Fonda is much better and the film should be named after her as she is the principal character and it's her story, not his. I don't know what she sees in him.

A variety of illustrations collage style, all painted in watercolor and gouache. Starting at the top left to right. A high mountain lake with an orange dragon flying overhead. Then a white dragon resting on a rock under a white twisted tree. Then an ocean shore with rocks and trees and a dragon flying overhead. Next row. A pink and purple sunset over the mountains and forest with a full moon and a flying white dragon. Then a dragon watches a fish in the rapids of a rocky stream. Bottom. Inspired by Lake Louise in canada, a dragon flies over a misty lake in early morning. An illustration of green skies over a mist shrouded forest at night, a dragon flying overhead. Bottom right, a vivid sunset with clouds on a beach with a dragon with orange wings flying by. Text reads kamakru.com

A square format oil painting of a bronze-winged pionus. She is sitting with her back to us, in a sunbeam, reaching under her right wing to preen. She is iridescent and multicolored with rich blues, bronzes, greens, and grey colors. A hunk of petrified wood with a rich array of blue grey, white, and tan streaks is the parrot's perch. A messy halo of caustic light surrounds her. The painting has an artist's watermark that reads Copyright 2026 Jennifer Miller Nambroth, featherdust dot com
A cropped detail close-up of the prior image. The brush strokes are more obvious in this close-up.

So...wait. Is he saying the law doesn't apply to non-citizens who are in the country? Or only certain laws apply to them?
I'd better get a pen and paper and make a list of which laws apply to me and which ones don't when I visit.
