Since this figure is communicating categories and not a gradient, a qualitative instead of a quantitative color scheme is probably easier to read. So e.g. in matplotlib dark2 instead of viridis. Sorry for the random nit-pick.
Massive (68%) cut to NASA astrophysics proposed in WH budget. If this stands, it's the end of American pre-eminence in space science. arstechnica.com/space/2025/0...
After 22 years and 2000+ orbits (!) the @esa.int gamma-ray observatory INTEGRAL is being retired. It was a critical asset in understanding the high-energy Universe, and I salute the team that made it happen.

Would be nice to have somewhat more explicit description of the tasks it enables. Because I, as an astro PhD student, have yet to find a great usecase for these tools.
The image looks very much AI generated (hands, eyes, texture,...). Would be cool to communicate this, e.g. via the alt-text.
No, it is not! PLEASE just remove this AI nonsense. There are enough genuinely amazing images of the Helix nebula out there. No need to share this kind of slop.

Please! Provide a reference and best even a short explanation for these images.
Please give credit to the digital artist behind that image!
(or the AI used to generate this rendition)
Interesting that for a story about joy, they chose a title image that shows BlueSky already being invaded by pseudo scientific AI slop.
(The nebula in the background is fake)
