At times I've considered making a TGF-inspired interface to make GameTank games but that's a huge undertaking to get right.
(While I'm historically not shy from huge undertakings I do try to stick to one or two at a time)

Paid a visit to my The Games Factory roots this week with a janky platformer using sprites from my main game project.
Despite there being a lot I wish I could add to this tool, it's still fun to throw together quick little games with.

phew took longer than I thought, found a significant bug in the music/SFX player in the process but fixed it!
still need to add some little sounds when navigating and selecting items, something like old school Final Fantasy menu noises :)
for #screenshotsaturday here's the new main menu I've implemented for my #GameTank game Ganymede
also it supports a second save slot now
two calls this week asking about an online form I supposedly submitted seeking legal services for a car accident
who crashed their car and is trying to say they were me??
Tried wrapping a GameTank like a burrito in paper-backed foil
It does *something* I guess ๐
overall would rate my current experience with DHL, as a customer, at a -7 out of 10
after getting hot potatoed between service reps in different departments I was given a phone number to call, so I did
connecting me to a recorded message
in Croatian
which wouldn't be so bad
if I spoke Croatian
another print service claiming I dont have to worry about the bleed area. Gee, I wonder how that's gonna go
he big he green he eat alarm clocks
filming with phone:
- all kinds of automatic bs settings
- weird formats blender apparently doesnt handle
- is it using the bluetooth lapel mic? who knows!?
filming with ancient vhs-c camcorder only using phone for audio recorder:
- uh it just works
- i wish i did this video in my usual way
Highly calibrated lab grade test equipment here
what kind of amazing bargain is he getting on that gas anyway
ok now hes just idling it while cleaning up his other equipment come onnnnnnn ๐ญ
the nicest days for filming outside are also the days when the leaf blower chorus comes out
I also have the front panel buttons unplugged, after thinking "what's the dumbest possible cause". I'll re-try the stress tests after reconnecting that in a bit.
So far it hasn't rebooted after the BIOS update, I'm trying out playing several 4K videos at once on YouTube to stress test since it at least *feels* like the reboots happen while watching videos.
ASRock x670e PG Lightning
How did you figure out it was the voltage controller?
oh I thought I already tried updating the BIOS but its the initial release from 2022
please be the fix ๐
unrelated as in I'll be playing some recent game that actually puts my 3090 to work and nothing happens, but I close out of that and watch some YouTube and suddenly the screen goes black and I'm back at the Windows login screen
love how my PC just randomly reboots with no warning signs and apparently unrelated to user-facing activity, leaving nothing in Event Viewer except a note that an unexpected shutdown happened, and it also apparently isn't my RAM or power supply
"4,166 Expected 7/3/2026" THATS THE SAME MONTH I WANTED TO SHIP D:
who bought up all the 74HC40103 in TSSOP? wtf man I needed those... ;_;
Maybe even just better encounter design, where the normal overworld encounters arent like 30-50 feral frogs that get all their turns in a row and your team can't do anything
The incredibly stylish Okage Shadow King deserves a better battle system
(Every time I do an expo table I get more practice putting the ideas behind the GameTank into words)
There are ways to try to obfuscate that with encryption and such, but maybe "someone" could instead lean into the opposite direction and design a system that can safely be a glass box where purpose allows
There's also the issue of storage on the computer vs attached to the program media. If each cartridge brings its own non-volatile memory then they can't snoop or interfere with each other's saved data.
Multitasking computers have their uses, but there's a lot of necessary abstraction to make apps play nice with each other even when they're well-intended.
Much of the "directness" when devving retro consoles is afforded specifically because they are single-task architectures.
Yes! fantastic bnuuy dimensions :)
