Prevalence of Iron Deficiency and Iron-Deficiency Anemia in US Females Aged 12-21 Years, 2003-2020 This study examines prevalence of iron deficiency among females aged 12 to 21 years to inform future screening strategies for iron deficiency and iron-deficiency anemia.

Our study found that nearly 40% (!) of 12-21 yo females are iron deficient.

And if your toddler is drinking significantly more than 24 ounces and hasn’t had labs done, you can assume they’re likely deficient.

🩸don’t take w/ milk, dairy, tea, coffee (these inhibit absorption)
🩸vitamin C *may* increase absorption
🩸best to take on empty stomach if you can tolerate
