Three months is not enough time to run an effective statewide campaign in Texas.
Texas is Huge. It's essentially 5-6 different cultures packed into one state. East, West, North, South, Central, and Panhandle are totally different. Even border cities like El Paso and Brownsville are vastly different from each other.
Her campaign would've had more time to squash the media lies and control the narrative.
If Crockett announced in June, she would be the Democratic nominee. She could've stopped Talarico's momentum before the filing period even started.
Waiting until the last minute allowed Talarico to gain momentum and name recognition. By the time Crockett announced, Talarico had already built the campaign infrastructure and closed the gap.
She knew she wanted to run for Senate. Word is, she had plans to challenge Ted Cruz in 2030. If she thought she had a better chance in 2026, why wait until literally the last day to file to announce?
12 months ago, Crockett was undoubtedly more popular and well-known than Talarico AND Allred, even though Allred was the Democratic Party's Senate nominee last cycle.
Talarico spent a year campaigning throughout Texas gaining name recognition. When it was Talarico vs. Colin Allred, he consistently beat Allred in fundraising, despite Allred being the more well-known candidate.
Her biggest advantage over Talarico was name recognition. You can argue experience, but let's be real, no one was checking resumes in this race.
First, I acknowledge that media outlets and political pundits lied on her nonstop. They've cherry picked and misinterpreted her words her entire political career.
