This site uses "AI clean rooms" to bypass copyright to "liberate" open source projects of the need to credit or support open source projects. It's satire, but it also works and is something that the open source community is already dealing with: www.404media.co/this-ai-tool...

very funny to accuse this campaign in particular of "gross self-censorship"
Forbes launched ForbesPredict in January as part of an effort to reverse declining traffic from search engines and keep users on its website longer. It’s a prediction market like Kalshi or Polymarket, but unlike those sites there’s no money to be won. “AI is fundamentally changing how people access information, and that shift is already starkly visible in publisher's traffic,” Nina Gould, Forbes’ Chief Innovation Officer said in a press release announcing ForbesPredict. “Our response isn’t to chase scale, but to deepen engagement. ForbesPredict gives our audience a reason to return, participate and invest their thinking—not just consume headlines.” ForbesPredict is an attempt to gamify news consumption and keep users scanning the website. Rather than cash, players earn tokens. “Tokens that have no cash value but matter within the ForbesPredict ecosystem as a signal of judgment over time. The tokens unlock greater status, gameplay advantages, and non-monetary rewards along the way,” Gould told Publishing Insider in an interview about the launch of ForbesPredict.

Palantir doing supervillain monologuing sure does, deliberately or not, distract from its actual business being almost extravagantly boring:
. The atomic age is ending. One age of deterrence, the atomic age, is ending, and a new era of deterrence built on A.I. is set to begin. 13. No other country in the history of the world has advanced progressive values more than this one. The United States is far from perfect. But it is easy to forget how much more opportunity exists in this country for those who are not hereditary elites than in any other nation on the planet. 14. American power has made possible an extraordinarily long peace. Too many have forgotten or perhaps take for granted that nearly a century of some version of peace has prevailed in the world without a great power military conflict. At least three generations — billions of people and their children and now grandchildren — have never known a world war.
Palantir's Lex Luthor speech is a real roller coaster
Look, if I'm playing translator for the masses then some Rooks are gonna get killed.
And I will not disrespect them by holding back their final words.
The "they" in the original is you and E.
No, E rezzed me. He didn't realize that. After he came outside he said "do you wanna rez your buddy?"
That's when the shooting started
I had a bad feeling about them.
Rook was inside and shotgunned me when I walked through the door. Castle doctrine.
When they picked me up I said: "We don't have to do this."
Rook: "we don't have to do this"
He came outside and they murdered him

I am still struck that the President posted a Rotten.com level video and it was almost immediately forgotten
When @mjgault.bsky.social called it boomers trying to wrap up the plot lines, he wasnt wrong.
Funny how boomer fantasies and the neocon agenda are intertwined
Ukraine is not just keeping up with change – Ukraine is among the leaders in the development of security technologies. Our Ukrainian security experience and our military expertise are now the most sought-after products for dozens of countries worldwide. But we are not building new cooperation with partners on weapons the way it was done in the 1990s or early 2000s, when Ukrainian weapons and strength were sold off like a Black Friday sale. We are not making fairs of our weapons, nor are we emptying our stockpiles. We are offering security partnerships – long-term and profitable for Ukraine. Our interceptors are already operating in the Middle East and the Gulf countries. We are building a strong, integrated, multi-component system for protecting the skies. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar have their own air defense against ballistic and other missiles. But with our military expertise, they have solutions to defend against “shaheds”: to detect this threat and respond at scale. Radar coverage, the necessary electronic warfare systems, communication between air defense components, and interception itself – Ukraine is capable of all of this. We are also in communication with Kuwait, Oman, Türkiye, and Syria. Countries in Asia and Africa are interested in our experience as well. Ukraine is a global producer of strength and security – that is already the case, and it will remain so. And none of this is a gift from Ukraine. Long-term security agreements in the Middle East mean funding for our state every year. It is fuel for Ukraine – essential in global instability. It is also the types of weapons that we lack but our partners have. We support those who support us – and we work so that everyone becomes stronger. Already this week, we will have discussions with Europeans – negotiations on creating a joint air defense system. I am confident: either Ukraine becomes an integral part of Europe’s security system, or some in Europe risk becoming part of the “Russian world.”
the pitch, explicitly put here, is that Ukraine will trade long term security guarantees for knowledge and robots
Zelenskyy said there had been 22,000 similar operations in the last three months, so it's possible it could have happened elsewhere.
the other interesting part of this holiday speech is that it's a sales pitch to the world
notably, the WSJ story didn't mention surrender. "While it is unclear from the footage how successful the attack was, the spokesman said Ukrainian troops found Russian corpses when they moved in to take over the position."
he didn't specify where this surrender took place, but the scant details are similar to a story WSJ reported in December about a ground advance conducted entirely by robots
Zelenskyy made the claim as part of a Defense Industry Worker Day speech that included a pre-taped presentation of Ukraine's various war robots
What does it take for the Space Force to write a song? Meetings. Lawyers. More meetings. A general suggesting they scrap the whole thing and start over. Emails show the painful bureaucracy behind Space Force's official song: www.404media.co/emails-revea...

Also in this episode, @mjgault.bsky.social gets into why Americans seem more and more resistant about data centers being built in their backyards.
The question? Who is this actually for? Watch now:
