Besides touching grass, nothing makes you appreciate the story of life on Earth more than studying and illustrating it. Earth Day is everyday.

This time around I mostly finished an old project that I had around, a retro styracosaurus. Would be interested on tackling this one from 0 at one point in the future, but for now, here it is.

it still boggles my mind how someone credibly accused of sexual misconduct is still consistently publishing and hasn't lost his job...
its disheartening

I’m guilty of this too but the fact that I’ve seen an order of magnitude more art and discussion of Spinosaurus mirabilis than Haolong says a lot about the dinosaur palaeontology community and where our biases are. Haolong is inarguably more important, but it’s received a fraction of the attention.

real funny how right below it is the superbright heterodontosaurus, showing that he clearly needed to compensate for the drab plateosaurs

One of the main issues with CGI dinosaurs in recent productions is that even though the overall outlines are correct, the more intrinsic anatomical forms often look off. I think that nonspecialist 3D artists need to be given clearer guides on how to actually build up those forms.

I wonder where the idea that Australia’s wildlife is uniquely dangerous comes from. Like, North America has their own equivalent of pretty much each species + bears, mountain lions, and moose.

in a couple days on Saturday 11pm CET, Paleostream will be illustrating the Ein Yabrud Lagerstätte of Palestine. Josch has confirmed there should be some charities available for folks to donate to, which i highly recommend folks should if you have the means. I hope to see you there. #FreePalestine

Former Microsoft executive’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein comes under scrutiny Seattle Times business reporter Alex Halverson has written about connections between Epstein and former Microsoft executive Nathan Myhrvold.

If the paleo community is going to be serious about Horner’s connection to Epstein, we also have to be serious about Myhrvold’s, because guess who contributed photos of animals mating to Epstein’s birthday book and has been appearing in new paleo papers this year - including the new Spinosaurus.

Is the staggeringly profitable business of scientific publishing bad for science? The long read: It is an industry like no other, with profit margins to rival Google – and it was created by one of Britain’s most notorious tycoons: Robert Maxwell

Did you know. That for-profit publishing that is the bread and butter of contemporary academia, which kindles a lot of academic ills (publish or perish, golluming, funding distribution) was set up by Robert Maxwell, yes, the father of Ghislaine Maxwell.

There’s literally a straight line between Trump, Epstein, and the retaliatory lawsuits against women who came forward with allegations against celebrity men like Amber Heard and Blake Lively. They all even have the same PR folks. And yet people still refuse to see it

One of the things bothering me about how people are responding to the Epstein files is that there are tons of conspiracies being created and spread about what’s in them, rather than people just believing the victims like they could have been doing for years now
