For some time I’ve toyed with the idea of doing a PhD after I retire. Close to retiring now and not sure if I’ll follow through. Have too many other projects in mind. Understand the wanting to run though. A familiar situation to me.

Not sure what’s worse, the president or the moustaches…

Moustaches are only permissible when accompanied by a beard.

I bought the Squier from a friend who used to0 play it in a Christian rock band. So you could say I'm re-habilitating it.

But what about my searing lead-breaks....? I really ought to concentrate on my surbahar - it only requires two fingers. Sitars and surbahars (baritone sitars) are essentially slide instruments.

I don’t normally play electric guitar, but I have this Squier Strat. It’s pretty good. Lately H plays it more than I do.

Is that a left-handed guitar?

I have arthritic fingers. The little finger of my left hand is almost useless. I’ve been trying to work out a way to play without using that finger.

Last weeks listening.

I only listened to Boards of Canada because I was told they had sampled some Incredible String Band on that particular record but I couldn’t hear it.

Jesus attempts to escape from the cross. He pulls on arm free, then the other. Briefly he stands up right with his arms by his side, then he falls forward, his feet still nailed, and face-plants upside down against the upright of the cross.

I’ve always been told it was Huey, as in the Australian prayer for rain - “Send ‘er down Huey!”.

I’m the 4th kind. I don’t read Japanese literature. I tried Murakami — lovely writing but deadly boring.

That’s a hard choice. I might choose an orchestra. Perhaps Jordi Savall’s baroque ensemble. Then I’d get to hear all my favourite composers.

The cattle threw themselves at fences trying to gain access, cutting themselves badly on the wire. Dozens of cattle died of dehydration. Again and again in my work I have seen humans failing in their duty of care towards the animals they were responsible for.

I am a veterinarian. Well over a decade ago I was called to the property in this photo to investigate mass cattle deaths. The cattle had died because of the negligence of a single stockman, who had faied to open a gate which would have given the cattle access to this water.

A circular concrete water trough, equipped with a ball-valve and filled with water. The tank is full. The ground around the tank is broken by the hooves of cattle. In the background is grass and trees. The sky is pale and cloudy. The surface of the water reflects the sky.

I haven't posted any of my photography for a while. This is a watering point on a cattle property in North Queensland.
