There’s a recent video clip going round showing workers chiselling Great Pyramid stone… but it’s not as it seems,

They are chiselling modern cement/render aka restoration work, NOT the original pyramid stone.

Nobody is destroying the pyramid… but it is a bit of a PR blunder 🙄

A shady little chamber with round skull bones recognizable on the floor

A room with 22 skulls (all but two lacking jaw bones) was recently found in the Neolithic Sefertepe site of SE Turkey, one of those Taş Tepeler sites.🏺

But how did they do it? How could these Neolithic hunters quarry those huge limestone T-pillars we now breathlessly admire at #TasTepeler sites like #GöbekliTepe, #Karahantepe and others? 😲🤔

How? - Well, they made clever use of the local geology. And Matt's video here shows this pretty good. 🏺👍

Thank you for those that have followed me over here on BlueSky. Everyone in my house is currently down with a rotten cold virus so I’ll try and give this more attention when I’m better.

The unfinished T-pillar at #KarahanTepe, part-quarried but still attached to the limestone bedrock, just a stones throw away from the ancient settlement.

I’ve spent the day researching the geology of Şanlıurfa and Göbekli Tepe, and writing a script about how the T-pillars were quarried from the bedrock. I’m enjoying this more than I thought I would.
